"They Spay Kittycats Don't They?" Andrew Greenstone, Brush and Ink + Digital, 2026 Dance Marathons were a form of depression era barbarism where couples competed to stay dancing 45 minutes out of every hour without stopping for weeks and sometimes months on end. People would suffer heart attacks or sometimes die of exhaustion. The prize money they stood to win was usually around $1000.Spectators could pay a quarter and stay in the dancehalls all day , eating hotdogs and rooting for their favorite couples. Sometimes couples could earn sponsors from local business. I can't help but think about them any time I have a conversation with my peers about how anyone is supposed to get ahead in any creative discipline these days. I wonder if we feel desperate in similar ways.

For the David Lynch show at @creativetalentnetwork I colored and printed and framed the Wild At Heart comic I made for @harumscarumpictures second magazine. The print is an ultra high quality, the frame is nice, and im only making one of these ever so if you want to look at it or even buy it, you should check out the show on Saterday.

I don't know what to say about this trip. I haven't felt this optimistic about comics in a long time. I've talked to so many amazing people and had so many positive interactions over the past week and a half that I can baily keep them straight. I got to spend time with 20 years' worth of comic friends. I got to accept a meaningful award on behalf of one of my oldest comic friends in front of a bunch of my my other comics friends! I got to make a ton of NEW comics friends, which I thought was impossible at my advanced age. I got to share my work with some of my comics heroes. I got to share my work with strangers who were kind and receptive. I got to have a ton of real nice dinners with folks I feel closer to now! I got to party with a bunch of other folks, all of whom were so nice to me when they didn't have to be! I got to see my parents, who i love and who are doing well, which im grateful for! I got to meet the senator of our home state and get a tour of the capital building, which was weird! Thank you to Rachel Dukes, who is a fantastic teammate. Tank you to Sean Knickerbocker, who trusted me to represent Rustbelt at SPX. Thank you to M.S. Harkanass, who took me to a driving range and drove me to the airport, and also let me into her home! Thank you to all of the air BnB gang who watched Sumo with me, and were really nice even though they didn't know me that well. Thank you to Sam, who recommended my work to some folks. Thanks to Richard L Greene, who talked to me about matchbooks forcomic. Thank you for the event organizers at both @spxcomics and @cartooncrossroads for making a place where cartoonists can feel valued. Thank you to my parents for their continued love and support and for coming all the way down to DC (a place they didn't want to go) just to see me. . Also . . Extra special thanks to the Columbus TSA who opened my sealed package of comicbooks, couldn't tape the box back up, and called me rude when I protested. Thanks to @southwestair who changed my gate to the other side of the airport without telling me and all the folks coming back home from @lostlandsfestival who probably just gave me covid.

I'm beyond honored that @seanknickerbocker gave me the opportunity to accept the ignatz award on his behalf and for publishing my ridiculous comics and being my friend. Thank you for @spxcomics for putting on this insaine show that brings so many people together! Thank you to all my fellow contributers. What a wild night!
