RESCHEDULED!: The NC Utilities Commission rescheduled the hearing to June 3, citing "security concerns". This is a peaceful, fun event to make our voices heard because this hearing is about whether Duke Energy can raise our bills 18%, in part to power big tech's data centers.
What's really going on? They are worried about too much public participation! DO NOT LET THEM SQUASH YOUR VOICE. SEE YOU JUNE 3RD!
We are working with the performers and speakers to reschedule, we will announce the final lineup of performers & speakers when we have it confirmed! In the meantime, SAVE THE DATE JUNE 3RD 5:30PM RALLY & DRAG SHOW, 7PM HEARING
Duke Energy wants to raise our bills (18%!), in part to power big tech data centers. The NC Utilities Commission is holding a hearing in Durham to decide if they should let them.

The real energy emergency: North Carolinians having to choose between paying the light bill and paying for food, medicine, or rent!

STOP DUKE'S RATE HIKES! Yesterday, we joined dozens in Charlotte to protest Duke Energy’s plan to raise our electric bills by almost 20%.
Duke is trying to push TWO outrageous rate hikes, all so that they can cover the demand for more data centers. At the same time, Duke’s CEO makes $22M a year and Duke made BILLIONS in profit last year. Why should working class people have to pay for Duke’s greed?

♻️ We’ll be having a Recycling Drive with @therecollective.co at Earth to Raleigh this Saturday!
The ReCollective Booth will be taking your wine corks, bottle caps and six pack holders for recycling! Bring your materials to recycle at the ReCollective table. Learn more at therecollective.co
Each year, an estimated 13 billion wine corks are produced worldwide. Natural corks, harvested from the bark of cork oak trees, are biodegradable and can be repurposed into products such as flooring tiles, insulation, and fashionable accessories. Synthetic corks, typically made from plastic, can also be creatively reused. Many local artists and crafters transform both types of corks into unique, eco-friendly products and artwork.
Metal bottle caps often go unnoticed in the recycling process, but they can have a big impact. Instead of being discarded, these caps can find new life through creative reuse. Many artists use metal bottle caps to craft unique works of art, turning what would otherwise be waste into something beautiful and inspiring. By collecting and repurposing these small items, we reduce landfill waste and support creativity in our communities
Accepted Materials
Natural Corks: Made from cork oak bark.
Synthetic Corks: Made from plastic or composite materials.
Metal Bottle Caps: From glass beverage bottles, such as soda, beer, and other drinks. These caps have wavy edges and are typically crimped onto the bottle.
Not Included: Any lids that are not crimped metal bottle caps, such as those from glass jars, and anything that is not a wine cork.
Not sure what to do with lids from salsa, pasta sauce, pickle jars, etc.? Most local municipal programs accept metal ones. Try a magnet test—you might be surprised! For specific guidance, visit your municipality’s website Your wine corks and bottle caps are transported to our Durham, NC, warehouse, where they are prepared for recycling or repurposing.
