The @nc_gop@senatorberger released a proposed state budget this week that continues to undervalue critical services provided by state workers. Rather than prioritizing education, healthcare, and raises for the people that keep our state running, they are proposing billions $$ more in tax breaks for the rich and corporations. Join us June 3 in Butner (other actions TBA) to support state DHHS mental health and UNC System workers to demand the General Assembly pass a state budget for:
💰Raises to $25/hr & 25%
🏥Fully funded State Health Plan
😷Safe staffing in DHHS mental health facilities
💪🏾Collective bargaining

DPS is closed to students on Friday May 1st while public school workers, families, students, and community supporters from across the state head to Raleigh to demand that our General Assembly fund our schools.
On that day, a broad coalition of labor unions, faith communities, teachers, parents, and community members are stepping up to provide free bagged lunches for pickup across Durham County for students who rely on school meals!
This May Day, Durham is mobilizing because our fight for public education, working people, democracy, and justice are interconnected. A week before May Day, we’re gathering as a community for an all-ages art build! Poster and banner making for May Day will be going on throughout the event and families and neighbors will be connecting around what we’re showing up to fight for on May Day. We will have a short program at 7pm, including a kids story time, and there will be popsicles for kids of all ages - bring a picnic dinner or snacks if you’d like! All are welcome!
On May 1st: No work. No school. No Shopping.
Kids Over Corporations:
Put kids first
End corporate tax breaks
Reclaim our democracy
