Over Easter, we were lucky enough to spend a wonderful break at our favourite spot on Lago Maggiore. Singing birds, stunning views, plenty of sunshine and not a soul in sight. This place is simply perfect for drinking tea. There’s lovely spring water and we have plenty of time. That’s when the tea tastes just as it should. We’re happy to bring our ceramics all the way there for that. We’ve made some new tea ceramics in spring colours! Mainly teapots, Matcha bowls, tea bowls and small tea cups. Here are few of the teapots and small cups. The teapots are thrown and assembled by Sharman @sharman.benjamin and designed and painted by Stefanie @seki.keramik . It’s always a lovely process, during which we both try to be as careful as possible so as not to damage each other’s work. At the moment, the teapots are the most time-consuming pieces we make. The moment of first use is always exciting, as it’s only at the end of the process that we see how well the teapots work. They are relatively small and hold between 150ml and 250ml. The small cups were thrown off the hump by Stefanie and also painted with engobe. They’re designed for tea quantities of 30ml to 60ml. We made most of the latest batch for @teerausch , a small and very fine tea shop in Dresden. A few of the pieces we’ll keep for ourselves because we love them so much, and some are also available in our shop in Berlin. Have a lovely spring weekend 🌸 and see you soon! 4 years Clayers Collective! 🥳🥳 Today, four years ago, we founded our little pottery business. It’s hard to believe how time flies. Since then, we’ve run nearly 450 courses, and more than 2,600 people interested in pottery have visited our studio to shape something from clay with their own hands. Over 6.7 tonnes of clay have been crafted and fired in our space. Countless pieces have passed through our fingers many times, before ending up happily in the hands of their creators. Maybe you’ve already visited us and own a piece of handmade pottery yourself? Whether made by you or by us. We are grateful for every single person who has joined our studio and made pottery with us over the last four years. We are delighted about every single piece of ceramics that has been created here. And whether you’ve been part of our journey for just a short while or right from the start: we’d like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! We’ve been a little quiet here on Instagram, but we’re still there. 🤗🤗 What started as a short winter break slowly turned into a longer pause – and honestly, it felt good. Less screen time for us means: more time in the studio, more time to focus, more time for clay. Over the past months courses have been running, pieces have been made and many have just come out of the kiln, finished. From this weekend on glazing begins in our longer courses. The Advent season is always the busiest and most intense time of the year for us. All the more reason to pause for a moment and spend time with dear people. This year, we once again held our Secret Santa Christmas gathering with our studio members. ✨ Back in August, we all picked a name and secretly, yet very openly, created a special piece of pottery in front of everyone. All of the pieces passed through our hands several times when loading and unloading the kiln and were displayed openly on the shelves, perhaps secretly admired, but wonderfully hidden among the pile of ceramics we were all working on. This made it all the more exciting when we got together, each bringing a delicious treat for the buffet, and everyone excitedly waiting to unwrap their gifts. Many of us have a few pieces by the other studio artists at home, and the collection is constantly growing. And so every day we experience how wonderful it is to use a handmade object that someone we know has created with a lot of love. We wish you all wonderful holidays surrounded by loved ones. Market season is over! ✨ Many thanks to everyone who stopped by @weddingmarkt over the past few Sundays! 🫶🏻 We had so many great encounters and inspiring conversations and met many new people as well as a lot of friends and long-term customers. 🩷 It’s always such a pleasure to get immediate feedback. And of course we are totally happy every time one of our creations finds a new home, especially when it is connected to a face and a story and we know who will use our ceramics from now on. We are deeply motivated to make new pieces and are really looking forward to have more time for it soon. Berlin Tea Festival @berlinteafestival is over and it was a blast. It was a truly wonderful experience for us to meet the tea community with our ceramics. So many nice people! It seems that tea lovers are generally friendly, relaxed and open-hearted people and most of them have a deep understanding for handmade ceramics. Celebrating tea requires and promotes patience and mindfulness, similar to doing pottery. Perhaps that is why we all feel connected in spirit. 🤍🌿 In any case, we are glad to have been part of it and feel that we could develop ourselves further during the preparation for the festival, creating many pieces especially for this occasion. Above all our collab teapots, but also gaiwans, shiboridashi, many small cups, and different kinds of tea bowls. They were fun to make and it was great to see the reactions from tea experts from all over the world. We are honored that our ceramics will now accompany many tea lovers during their ceremonies and enhance their tea experience.
