This is the bouquet and the vase Stefanie @seki.keramik and I took to @weddingmarkt last Sunday. The flowers still look nice and fresh.
The vase is one of our enjoyable collaboration projects we’ve been working on since a while now. We especially love this one.
Have a lovely weekend! 🌸

We’ve made some new tea ceramics in spring colours! Mainly teapots, Matcha bowls, tea bowls and small tea cups.
Here are few of the teapots and small cups. The teapots are thrown and assembled by Sharman @sharman.benjamin and designed and painted by Stefanie @seki.keramik . It’s always a lovely process, during which we both try to be as careful as possible so as not to damage each other’s work. At the moment, the teapots are the most time-consuming pieces we make. The moment of first use is always exciting, as it’s only at the end of the process that we see how well the teapots work. They are relatively small and hold between 150ml and 250ml.
The small cups were thrown off the hump by Stefanie and also painted with engobe. They’re designed for tea quantities of 30ml to 60ml.
We made most of the latest batch for @teerausch , a small and very fine tea shop in Dresden.
A few of the pieces we’ll keep for ourselves because we love them so much, and some are also available in our shop in Berlin.
Have a lovely spring weekend 🌸 and see you soon!

4 years Clayers Collective! 🥳🥳
Today, four years ago, we founded our little pottery business. It’s hard to believe how time flies. Since then, we’ve run nearly 450 courses, and more than 2,600 people interested in pottery have visited our studio to shape something from clay with their own hands. Over 6.7 tonnes of clay have been crafted and fired in our space. Countless pieces have passed through our fingers many times, before ending up happily in the hands of their creators.
Maybe you’ve already visited us and own a piece of handmade pottery yourself? Whether made by you or by us. We are grateful for every single person who has joined our studio and made pottery with us over the last four years. We are delighted about every single piece of ceramics that has been created here. And whether you’ve been part of our journey for just a short while or right from the start: we’d like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! Your support and appreciation means so much to us.
Yours gratefully,
Stefanie & Sharman

Market season is over! ✨
Many thanks to everyone who stopped by @weddingmarkt over the past few Sundays! 🫶🏻
We had so many great encounters and inspiring conversations and met many new people as well as a lot of friends and long-term customers. 🩷 It’s always such a pleasure to get immediate feedback. And of course we are totally happy every time one of our creations finds a new home, especially when it is connected to a face and a story and we know who will use our ceramics from now on.
We are deeply motivated to make new pieces and are really looking forward to have more time for it soon.
But first we’ll take care of the last few to-dos before we take a break for the holidays. 💫

Sometimes it is very important for us to take photos of certain pieces before they find a new home. This is definitely the case with our collaboration teapots.
Here we are showing you 2 more examples.
Thrown and assembled by Sharman @sharman.benjamin and decorated by Stefanie @seki.keramik
We will bring the teapots with us to the @berlinteafestival at @silent.green on November 8 and 9.
See you there! ✨

One of my latest black Kyusu teapots with the typical side handle for this type of teapot.
I love to try out all my teapots at least once to make sure they work well.
Happy tea time!
And happy weekend! 🌞

Why do we travel to faraway places? What does it do to us?
We discover that the world is bigger, more complex – it smells, sounds, and tastes different than what we know from daily life.
Travel opens our senses and makes us more humble. It helps us step out of familiar patterns – leaving behind the streets, routines, and roles we know. What is foreign makes us look at things in a new way, things that at home have become invisible.
Travel is a mirror. It shows us sides of ourselves that stay hidden in everyday life. Who are we really? Who are we not?
Japan feels, in many ways – at least on the surface – like the opposite of Berlin: strict order, quiet politeness, subtle codes, deep respect, the community before the ego. And of course, the cleanliness and care for each other. We will miss it.
This was not our first time in Japan, as this country always pulls us back.
We came here together 8 years ago. For Sharman it is already the 4th visit. He first discovered Japan in 1999 during the International Workshop for Ceramic Art in Tokoname – and immediately fell in love with this beautiful country.
So this is not our first trip to Japan – and surely not our last. 🤍

Hello from Japan!
The first half of our month in Japan is over.
It’s almost end of September and still so hot and humid. We are traveling by train and busses and rent bicycles wherever possible.
Wandering in awe through temples and gardens, soaking up the timeless atmosphere and finding inspiration everywhere.
Enjoying tea houses, delicious sweets and green tea, amazing food and handmade ceramics all over the place, incredible flea markets and all the interesting encounters we make.
We have been camping in the Japanese Alps during heavy rains and strong winds and got rewarded with a very nice hike at sunshine.
We had the pleasure to see an exhibition of Lucie Rie‘s masterpieces in Kanazawa and another one in Kyoto.
We visited famous Kawai Kanjiro‘s house and admired the old noborigama kiln in his backyard.
The omnipresent mix of tradition and modernity, the preservation of the old and the embrace of imperfection. It’s so impressive to see the high value placed on arts and crafts in Japanese culture – whether it’s a 6th-generation wagashi maker, a kimono tailor, or a 15th-generation Raku family, artisans are deeply respected in society and that is very beautiful to see.
