Abit about the project -
Our cohort was invited to open up the archive of grassroots screen heritage of the city. We upskilled in media preservation skills and produced a programme of workshops, exhibitions and screenings.
It's been eye opening, learning about the film and video landscape in the 80s,
Learning how to digitize Nan's home videos with
@hellocatfood
How to screen through outdated tech
How to handle film projectors with
@michael.lightborne
Listening to electricity, seismic waves from the earth and the pulse of plants with
@garyroystewart
Having critical conversations around distribution with
@radicalexhibition
And it's been especially fun to hear everyone's insights of what we've been watching, to see other's interpretations
I've learnt more about our home city, and what's possible here, and what we're building on.
More to come 🌞
