Today I’m releasing a new album titled Ambient Volcanoes of Ireland with @gleo_irl . Two sides of slow droning atmospheres; one dark, one bright. From doom jazz to accordion collage. Furniture music to sink into.
It serves as a sort of companion album to Dormant Volcanoes of Ireland, which I released during the Summer. If you liked the slower dronier bits of that album then you may like this. This is definitely the Winter version.
The tracks on Dormant Volcanoes were built upon a set of long drones and undulating rhythms made with accordion and effects, though in the end there was little of these recordings left in the final version of the album. The two long tracks that make up this new album return to that raw material and lean into the slowness, darkness and duration, exploring those original textures and developing them through live collaborations with saxophonist Lorenzo Prati @lopratirenzo and musique concrète interventions from shortwave radio stations.

Very happy to be releasing my new album Dormant Volcanoes of Ireland today with Gleo Records @gleo_irl
Six long tracks, alternating drones and rhythms. Featuring vocals by @mama__matrix on track 1 and sax by @lopratirenzo on tracks 2 and 3.
Released as a digital download, a 24 page zine (risograph printed by @holodeckbirmingham and a short run of cassette tapes.

New album coming very soon. I did a radio show in advance that excavates some of the influences and ideas and previews some of the tracks.
Western Freqs has officially mutated into Wild Freqs, a more open-ended and wide-ranging show of new and old music that I've been listening to and discovering each month, plus some audio experiments and edits.

This weekend at Divfuse in London you can see/hear a new piece by me called International Waters Vol. 1 - featuring watery field recordings from Buenos Aires, Lisbon and Sao Miguel island.
Divfuse is such a nice cosy space for sound art in Hackney - if you don't manage to get to this then go to something there in the future.
