⚡️ CHARLIE BOTTERILL | QUALIFICATION SECURED.
At the 97th Wall Ball, Charlie Botterill pips Josh Van Zeeland to take the final qualification spot for the Elite15 World Championships.
In the final moments, Sean Noble sprints to take 4th place, with Josh Van Zeeland a close 5th.
What a showdown.
Today’s podcast guests are @charlie.botterill & @coachjonbullough
We take it back to where it all started for Charlie and how he’s become one of the best Hyrox athletes in the world. We also discuss training, mindset, racing strategy, other top athletes in the sport and much more.
If you want to get better at Hyrox, get your notepad out.
We hope you enjoy!
Nothing beats that feeling when everything clicks.
Trusting periodisation can be tedious, boring, and feeling like you’re being left behind; but when things get specific, you really start to feel the benefits.
Training @theparkclubmilton has been top notch these past few months, we’ve got a great bunch of athletes, brand new @centrfit equipment, and it’s made training feel so much easier.
It can be very easy to just from week to week without looking at a holistic macro-cycle, and if you’re coached you might question why things are similar week on week; but in truth, that probably means the coach knows what they’re doing.
5 weeks left of building the house.
As of today, we’re 6 weeks out from world champs, where I’ll be lining up in all 3 Elite races.
Since qualifying in December, the last 6 months have been very mono-structural, looking something like this:
Session 1:
2 Hour Stairmaster
Session 2:
2 Hour Bike
Now, as we get closer to race day, training is becoming much more specific (WHILST ENSURING THAT INTENSITY AND LOAD IS MANAGED CORRECTLY). This is to provide a more specific environment, whilst using the lower intensity to focus on maximising movement efficiency.
Now, training looks something like this:
Session 1:
2 Hour Mixed Modal
4km Bike -> 1km Ski -> 4km Bike -> 1km Row
Session 2:
90 Minutes Mixed Modal
1km Run -> 1km Row ->1km Run -> 50m Pull
This works well for me, and it MIGHT help you
