LEATHER BECOMES A SUSPENDED LANDSCAPE
BOTTEGA VENETA’s LIGHTFUL installation by Kwangho Lee transformed the Via Sant’Andrea store into a mesmerising display of woven leather and light. Black and green leather cords flowed through the space like organic structures suspended over water.
Hand-woven from supple leather, the installation extended the brand’s signature intrecciato design into a more architectural form. Woven volumes concealed softly glowing LEDs, allowing leather to serve as structure and ambience.
Designed in response to the store’s architecture, the installation balanced control with improvisation, creating a temporary intervention that turned BOTTEGA VENETA’s material identity into a living artistic expression.

PORTRAY 2026
PORTRAY is dedicated to interdisciplinary designers working at the intersection of craft, concept, curation, and cultural change.
During Collectible fair, we spoke with Giulia Cosenza, designer and ceramicist born in Milan, based in Rotterdam, whose artistic design practice. As stated by Giulia herself “My work lives in the tension between function and meaning” therefore she pivots at the intersection of function and symbolism. Cosenza’s ceramic works challenges conventional ideas of functionality, existing as objects that communicate through presence rather than interaction.
Materiality, symbolism, and craft remain central to her approach, shaping a broader vision of contemporary collectibles.
In collaboration with Anne Bo Vis, founder of Salon Poisson, Giulia Cosenza presented ENCOUNTERS in Brussels last march.

WHEN INSIDE ENVIRONMENTS TRANSFORM INTO WRITTEN STORIES.
DIMOREGALLERY takes place in a former bank located in the city’s business district, transforming a site of financial authority into a carefully curated interior experience. This location framed design as both cultural and symbolic capital, highlighting the gallery’s ongoing interest in atmosphere, memory, and spatial storytelling.
Through polished surfaces, patinated finishes, archival references, and intentional use of shadow, the installation continued DIMOREGALLERY’s signature approach to theatrical interiors. It presented objects as protagonists within a carefully composed cinematic environment.
The outcome was an immersive sequence of rooms defined by elegance, control, and visual precision. Instead of advocating disruption, DIMOREGALLERY refined an already established aesthetic system, offering a confident, self-contained vision of interiors as atmosphere, performance, and cultural value.

quiet. DID YOU HEAR THE REFERENCE LIBRARY TALKING?
JIL SANDER and APARTAMENTO have presented a curated installation at the Milan Reference Library, featuring 60 books that invite readers to engage with reading as a slow, deliberate ritual.
Designed by STUDIO UTTE, this minimalist space emphasises focus and materiality while subtly questioning the exclusivity and performative aspects of contemporary cultural consumption.
Have you felt the presence of books lately? Do you resonate with our thoughts in the highlighted report? We are curious, share your insights.

During the Collectible fair, we spoke with VASTO Gallery, a contemporary gallery in Poblenou, Barcelona, working across art, photography, collectible design, and spatial practice. The gallery champions artists and designers whose work moves between disciplines, embracing material experimentation while pushing the boundaries of their fields.
Their collection redefines the classic gallery format. The artists they represent are both conceptually driven and materially focused, with craft at the core of their practices. Overall, their vision sharpens the multidisciplinary approach of contemporary collectibles.
@vasto_gallery@carmenrc_@bymariabanos thank you for sharing vasto’s gallery’s storyline.

WHEN TEXTILE BECOMES A SPATIAL INTERVENTION
CC-TAPIS and FORNASETTI’s (META)FISICA transforms the rug into a stage that blends image, architecture, and illusion. Through the use of wool, silk, linen, embroidery, and knotting, iconic FORNASETTI motifs acquire new tactile depth while maintaining their distinctive graphic intensity.
Set within a theatrical six-room labyrinth, the exhibition immerses visitors in a world of repetition, ornamentation, sound, and scenographic excess. The result is a beautifully crafted dialogue between archive and materiality, celebrating heritage through extraordinary craftsmanship. This polished, atmospheric collaboration transforms surfaces into a spatial story.

IS DESIGN BECOMING TOO GOOD AT REPEATING ITSELF?
Discover the impactful designs showcased at MDW26.
MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2026 reflected a discipline that appears increasingly confident in itself. The event was characterised by refinement, accumulation, and aesthetic intelligence, but less frequently by urgency, disruption, or contradiction. While design is still expected to anticipate the future, this year it did so with caution, thoughtfully revisiting established styles with considerable sophistication. The outcome was a polished cycle, highly aware of its own repetition and perhaps too adept at presenting it attractively.

PORTRAY 2026
PORTRAY is dedicated to interdisciplinary designers working at the intersection of craft, concept, curation, and cultural change.
During the Collectible fair, we spoke with Obscure Objects and Maximilian Beck.
Their work challenges traditional paths of design education preceding production. Instead, their practice demonstrates how strong conceptual thinking can directly inform innovative design techniques. Rooted in a functional approach, their work emphasizes materiality, not only for its practicality, but for its ability to integrate seamlessly within spatial environments.
Maximilian Beck studio and Obscure Objects contribute a distinct perspective to the contemporary design landscape, reminding us of the importance of designing design above all else.
