Our hearts and ears are still full of music from Thursday night ✹ Our final Spotlight concert of the season closed out in the best way, with the incredible Cameron Crozman on cello and Bernhard Gueller on the podium. We also loved welcoming back our in-person pre-concert chats, led by our librarian James (and made possible by Flower Trends Florists). Such a special way to connect before the music even begins. Nova Scotia, thank you for showing up, listening deeply, and sharing these moments with us all season long. We đŸ«¶ you. #symphonynovascotia #halifaxmusic #classicalmusic

NEW CELLO!! đŸŽ»âœš Domenico Montagnana 1734 ✹ I feel so fortunate to be able to share that I am now playing on a 1734 Montagnana cello, graciously on loan from the CANIMEX collection. This collection, based in Drummondville, Quebec, has grown to become one of the most important in the world, and is featured in this year’s @the_strad_ calendar. It is totally amazing to have this collection here in Canada, and it's a dream come true to have the opportunity to play this exceptional cello. Domenico Montagnana spent his career in Venice and was a contemporary of Stradivarius. His cellos are ranked among the best ever made, and have been played by the likes of Yo Yo Ma, Emanuel Feuermann, Heinrich Schiff, Misha Maisky
In addition to being very beautiful (as you can see!) the sound of the cello is superb. From the moment I first tried it I was struck by its bold personality and the depth and malleability of its sound. I'm looking forward to bringing this new companion to audiences across Canada in the coming months! @festivalofthesound @hausmusique.mtl @classicalvalley @jefferyconcerts @cecilianchamberseries @symphonyns #Montagnana #CollectionCanimex #Cello

🆕💿🎉 Just over a week ago, @meaganmilatz and I recorded our first CD together at the stunning @domaine_forget under the invaluable guidance of our producer Anne-Marie @amsylvestre We dove into three works very close to our hearts: ✹ Brahms – Sonata No. 2 in F Major ✹ Rachmaninoff – Cello Sonata ✹ Graham Campbell @grahamkcampbell – The Compass Suite (written for us in 2024) It was an intense few days, but we are proud of the work we put into bringing out the unique musical voice of each work! It was so nice to have the chance to record again at Domaine, which is stunning in the winter. There really was nothing better to refresh our spirits than the walks to and from the concert hall through the pristine snow, with the amazing view of the St. Lawrence and the ever-shifting sky above it. Thank you to @atma_classique for their constant support of our projects, and to the @canada.council #instrumentbank for the loan beautiful 1750 Gennaro Gagliano cello which I used for this CD. Can’t wait for you to hear it! #cello #piano #ClassicalMusic

đŸŽ» Cameron Crozman is a Canadian cellist praised by Diapason for “a rich imagination and keen mind.” He performs as a soloist and chamber musician across Canada, the United States, Asia, and Europe, and has shared the stage with artists such as James Ehnes, Augustin Hadelich, Louis Lortie, GĂ©rard CaussĂ©, James Campbell, and members of the ÉbĂšne, New Zealand, and Penderecki Quartets. He received the Fernand-Lindsay Career Grant and the Virginia Parker Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts, was named Classical Revelation 2019 by Radio-Canada, and took part in Gautier Capuçon’s Classe d’Excellence at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. He studied with Paul Pulford in Canada and Michel Strauss at the Paris Conservatoire. His debut album “Cavatine,” recorded with pianist Philip Chiu on the 1696 “Bonjour” Stradivarius cello, was praised by Radio-Canada as “a perfect transmission of the essence of modern French music.” His most recent recording features Haydn’s Cello Concertos and Jacques HĂ©tu’s Rondo with Les Violons du Roy conducted by Nicolas Ellis. Cameron is Assistant Artistic Director of the Festival of the Sound, co-founder of ClassicalValley in the Okanagan Valley, and co-Artistic Director of the HausMusique concert series in MontrĂ©al. He performs on a c. 1750 Gennaro Gagliano cello on loan from the Canada Council for the Arts Instrument Bank and a bow by Georges LĂ©on Lamy provided by CANIMEX INC. Cecilia Concerts is delighted to present Cameron Crozman this weekend as part of Trio Uchida-Crozman-Chiu, together with violinist Robert Uchida and pianist Philip Chiu, for a program of works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Olivier Messiaen, Toru Takemitsu, and Maurice Ravel. đŸ—“ïž Saturday, December 6th ‱ 7:30pm 📍 Stage at St. Andrew’s, 6036 Coburg Road in Halifax đŸŽŸïž ceciliaconcerts.ca/trio-uchida-crozman-chiu and through the link in our bio @ceciliaconcerts ⭐ Season Sponsor: Nice Moves / Red Door Realty.

An immense pleasure to be performing again with @violonsduroy this week in Quebec City and Montreal 😊 Last time was over two years ago, when we recorded the Haydn Cello Concertos together. This group of musicians is so spectacular, and I feel especially privileged to work with @jonny_arcangelo whose infectious energy and imagination have been so inspiring! This is my first time performing a Vivaldi concerto since my school days. It's completely thrilling music, but so different than the romantic concertos which we cellists tend to spend so much of our time on. Instead of the cello as a lone heroic character, it feels much more like the solo part emerges out of the orchestral in a constant rhetorical dialogue. It's been great to discover all of this music's beauty and drama đŸŽ» #Cello #vivaldi #quebeccity #baroque
