@arcangelomusic and @jonny_arcangelo revive the four Chandos anthems composed for Cannons on their new album. Written for 8 singers and 11 excellent instrumentalists, these anthems comprise O sing unto the Lord a new song, Have mercy upon me, O God, As pants the hart, and Let God arise.

In 1717, after after performing his Water Music during a royal cruise on the Thames, #Handel began composing for James Brydges, later Duke of Chandos, at his Cannons estate. There he wrote 11 anthems and a Te Deum, written for 8 singers and 11 instrumentalists. @arcangelomusic and @jonny_arcangelo now revive four of these works: O sing unto the Lord a new song, Have mercy upon me, O God, As pants the hart, and Let God arise, whose Alleluia prefigures the famous Hallelujah chorus from Messiah.
