A few of us @buck_design recently threw together an identity for Playgrounds & their latest festival 'In Motion', which celebrates all things moving image. Whether its stop motion, 3D, VFX, film or techy AI jazzy collage stuff, In Motion has it 🎥 Split into 2 phases, we had 2 weeks to get the core concept, logo & brand guidelines together. Playground's internal team then used this to build out their social campaign in parallel to us kicking off with the animated visuals across the Outernet space in London. 2 years ago, we collaborated with Peter Ramsey, H.E.R and @netflix on “Active Citizenship”, the first episode in a Schoolhouse Rock-inspired musical anthology series from Chris Nee and Kenya Barris entitled "We The People". 2 hours ago, I found out the series took home an Emmy for "Outstanding Short Form Program" which is pretty mad! Such an incredibly special project to be part of. Ah this is late - About a year ago a bunch of us @buck_design started chipping away at the titles for @weareplaygrounds festival. Here's some slides showing a comparison of the super early animatic/roughs vs final result. The animatic stage is all about speed, efficiency & getting the overarching ideas & timing locked in. Keep it as rough as possible (my lack of drawing skills gave me no option✔️) so you can whiz through many iterations of different ideas. It's tempting, but early finessing is the number 1 deadline killer* Neeever underestimate the importance of the animatic stage! * It probably isn't, just adding drama. This was genuinely a super tight one to pull off in the timeline, given all the different approaches/styles/artists involved. Absolute chaos! But we got there!
