Transportation cards, re-imagined. — Suica – Tokyo, JP 🇯🇵 Bilhete Único – São Paulo, BR 🇧🇷 Ov-chipkaart – Amsterdam, NL 🇳🇱 Oyster – London, UK 🇬🇧 Metrocard – New York City, USA 🇺🇸 — Looking back at my collection of transport cards (last slides) I gathered while living in different places or simply passing through, I realised it would be a dream project to redesign some of them. As a millennial designer, constantly living in a state of transition, from physical to digital, I value every tangible trace that reminds how we, as social beings, navigate the world. That card, or piece of paper, gets us somewhere. It’s proof that we were there at that point in time, serving as a reminder of time and memory. While in contrast an email or a digital ticket holds little or no emotional value at all and is easily forgotten. Also this week’s news that the NYC MetroCard is sadly being phased out gave me even more reason to celebrate the analog and physical graphic world that is slowly being overtaken by the digital. #metrocard #graphicdesign #memorabilia #card

Voor de show van @gogo_penguin , vanavond in de Grote Zaal van Paradiso, ontwierp designer @est.richter deze abstracte poster. GoGo Penguin combineert op inspirerende wijze jazz, klassieke en elektronische muziek. De Braziliaanse grafisch ontwerper en art director Estefan Richter bevindt zich al ruim 10 jaar op het snijvlak van ambacht en visuele verkenning. Vanuit zijn huidige basis in Amsterdam onderzoekt hij in zijn onafhankelijke praktijk de relatie tussen omgeving, emotie en tijd. Zijn werk kenmerkt zich door een minimalistische benadering, waarbij hij doelgerichte typografie en eenvoudige vormen inzet als middel om betekenisvolle en complexe begrippen te vertalen.
