✨ Ama’s Salon ✨
Set in the year 2056, this speculative project imagines an African hair salon as a site of healing, resistance, and transformation using the BRAID2BRAIN Interface, pioneered by a hair braider and neurotechnologist named Ama.
What if braid-ups could heal us? What if our traditional beauty rituals could reconfigure memory, spark joy, or awaken courage? Are the risks of accessing intimate brain data worth the cure of mental health?
This series of 13 artworks are debuting at the African Feminisms Gathering 2025 at goetheinstitut_southafrica in Johannesburg this week.
