Many thanks to everyone who came to listen to Intraloper at Dark Music Days, realized with the best people who together form Apparat: Weston Olencki, Mathilde Conley, Max Murray, Samuel Stoll 🔥 Andreo Michaelo Mielczarek for Seismograf: “…deeply material, cold and wildly compelling.” Amanda Cook for I Care If You Listen: “Some of the most impressionable moments of the festival were experimental works that came with little context, including Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir’s visceral and multi-sensory Intraloper.” Eva Yuki Mik for Reykjavík Grapevine: “One piece that keeps on reverberating long after its final note, is Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir’s Intraloper, premiered by brass ensemble APPARAT.” Tumi Árnason for RÚV: "During the piece, it almost felt as though we were experiencing something not meant for human perception, as if a gateway had been opened into another dimension. Arnar Eggert for www.arnareggert.is: “A truly beautiful and thought-provoking work” @apparat.brass @wolencki @mathildespielttrompete @darkmusicdays @icelandmusic photos by @sunnaben video by @ruluks supported by RANNÍS artist fund

In the latest issue of @thewiremagazine - Roföldur at Borealis Festival last month: “The sound of Ore is close to a work played live upstairs on the Saturday night - remarkable, given the work is created entirely with a contrabass clarinet, soprano recorder and a selection of antique wooden birdcalls. Roföldur, co-composed by Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir and John McCowen (performed by the latter with tape accompaniment), is a work of extraordinary intensity. Even in its quiet moments, it seethes with feverish potency. The birdcalls, recorded at the Ina-GRM studios in Paris, have been processed and stretched into a silvery fog, closer to the feel of grit and slate than the feathered things its sources are designed to imitate. The contra practically barks, every breath a congeries of fissile multiphonics.” @seismografmag : “It was at Østre, however, that Borealis’ almost insistent niceness was truly challenged. In Saturday’s double bill, the ever-intriguing Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir, together with John McCowen, presented Roföldur. Here, the multiphonics of the contrabass clarinet grew into organic formations in the twilight of sound, until fragile bird-like tones – these small creatures with superpowers – forced their way into the dense sonic mass. Wow.” @icareifyoulisten : “In Bergrún and John’s Roföldur, contrabass clarinet multiphonics emerged from white noise, first at the faintest whisper, then growing into earth-shattering, spectral explosions that threatened to rattle our bones from our bodies. Sound became vibration; McCowen’s foghorn of overtones transformed music from a sonic experience to a somatic one.” Thanks for having us @borealisfestival & @petermeanwell , @inagrm for the time and space and @reimagineeurope for the support ❤️ 📸 Miriam Levi

presents @bergrun_______ [ concert ] Time : Sat • 19:30 - 20:12 Location : @aabnescene Intraloper is a long-form work for brass quartet, thundersheets, and live electronics that treats the ensemble as a fragile ecosystem held in unstable equilibrium. The quartet functions as a living system operating close to collapse, attempting to sustain activity under conditions that are possibly unsupportable. The piece was developed through workshops and dialogue with the members of Apparat. Musical material circulates through the ensemble in continuous processes of simulacrum, refraction, and displacement. Tickets available on our website. Limited experiences. Endless inspiration. “Venutian Wetland” by @viibraflutes at @reykjavik.arts.festival . In “Venutian Wetland”, the flute septet appears, through sound and movement, as a self-organizing collective of coexisting lifeforms, bound to continuous transformation in a strange environment beyond earthly bounds. Invisible flows of matter move between them, reshaping their existence and driving the constant transformation of form, function, and shared being. “Venutian Wetland” is a new composition created for viibra by Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir and choreographer Margrét Bjarnadóttir. viibra is composed of flute players Áshildur Haraldsdóttir, Berglind María Tómasdóttir, Björg Brjánsdóttir, Dagný Marinósdóttir, Sólveig Magnúsdóttir, Steinunn Vala Pálsdóttir and Þuríður Jónsdóttir. 📍Monday, June 8, at 20:00. Norðurljós Hall, @harpareykjavik . Presented by @marvada_creations , @reykjavik.arts.festival , @steftonlist , @icelandmusic , Artists’ Salary Fund and Reykjavík City Grant. 🔗 Ticket link in bio.

At Borealis in Bergen, community is everywhere. But when everything is filtered through safety and intimacy, the music risks losing its necessity – and its bite. Den canadiske kunstner og hypnoterapeut Julia E. Dyck inviterede til Trance Bath: »Drawing on hypnosis, queer bathhouse culture, and Finnish traditions, Trance Bath uses sound and ritual to investigate how bodies can synchronise, release tension, and attune to one another.« The floating sauna Laugaren is beautifully situated by the fjord. Designed by the architects Utopic, it is built from exquisite wood and resembles a work of art in itself. But Trance Bath drowned in guided meditation, small chimes, and too much talking. 📸 @_miriamlevi_ @thorbrodreskift #music #wellness #art #artist #norway

Thoughts on Skinweeper found in Best of Bandcamp by @pmargasak and in Morgunblaðið by @arnarthoroddsen ✨✨✨ “The album charts a fascinating progression of a single idea, honed and developed over time and shaped by shifting personnel.” “At the center of the piece is the harrowing friction produced by veteran percussionist William Winant” @steakatto “„Areolae Undant“, upphafsverkið, hremmir mann frá fyrsta tóni eða á ég frekar að segja hljóði? Hörð „industrial“-ára yfir og hvort sem það var pælingin eður ei vindur verkinu fram eins og haföldu sem dregst frá ströndu áður en hún skellur á af krafti aftur. Taktbundið verk sem sækir að þér og hverfur, sækir að þér og hverfur. Áleitin smíð sem sprengist upp er á líður.”
