Fold dumplings, share stories. Join us for an afternoon of making, tasting & connecting—from domestic ritual into collective art experience. Follow @pinch.of.us for more upcoming workshops About the Event Pinch of Us is more than a cooking class—it’s a participatory workshop series led by multidisciplinary artist LuLu Meng and collaborators. The project transforms the @essexmarket Kitchen into a communal studio, exploring how we connect through shared labor and sensory experience. Rooted in LuLu’s family history and drawing from the Lunar New Year traditions of her Taiwanese upbringing, LuLu treats the dumpling not just as a symbol of prosperity, but as a vessel for the quiet intimacy and storytelling that can emerge when generations gather together to cook. The heart of the workshop lies in the exchange between different cultures. LuLu will be joined by @baombaom Bang Geul Han (South Korea) and @jp_kycto Juan Pablo Caicedo Torres (Colombia), who will guide participants through the culinary traditions of their home countries. While the fillings and dough will be prepared in advance, the “art” begins when we work together. Pinch of Us @ Essex Market is generously supported by @aai_nyc Artists Alliance Inc. and The Lower East Side Partnership. The broader Pinch of Us 2026 series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts @nyscouncilonthearts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and @sculpture_space in Utica. #dumplings #cooking #cookingworkshop #lowereastside #participatoryart

For the last six months, I have started many things at @madmuseum but didn’t finish anything. I am grateful for the time and space to think, try, fail and, continue. I am excited about what I started, and I managed to complete the first step and take some pictures of one project at the very last minute before moving out of the studio at MAD. This is the beginning of my large-scale ‘curtain’ project. This first panel took four months, but doubling the sett was worth the pain. Swipe for little process reels of me gluing my weft thread (one of my favorite mindless activities; gluing the warp thread is my least favorite) and weaving using the rigid heddle loom with two heddles, a pick-up stick, and a heddle rod and many, many rubber bands. —>>

Thank you @artspiel and @etty.yaniv for the opportunity to interview some of the exhibiting artists in UNCOMMITTED! Link in bio for a preview of the conversation that we shall continue in our Artist Talk today @3pm @stand4gallery ! UNCOMMITTED features works by @donosostudio @magdalena_dukiewicz @baombaom and @georgia_lale_studio The exhibition focuses on civic literacy, engagement, and social matters which affect and reflect the daily lives of folks within Bay Ridge. This local lens also overlaps with national issues surrounding the 2024 presidential election. In particular, this artist cohort examines concerns related to health care, migration, conflict, tensions between state and federal voting rights, the role of technology, surveillance, and advocacy.

Excited to join the esteemed cohort of the 2024 @guggfellows , so many of whose work I admire. It's been quite a week—earthquake, eclipse, and this. I'm not sure what the universe is trying to tell me, but I am deeply grateful for all those who supported and nurtured my work. Thank you to all who sent kind messages saying I deserve this - still not sure, but oh well... 😉😊😊 #guggfellows2024

Posted @withregram@monikafabijanska When Dawn Delikat asked me to suggest a work of the next “it” artist for the exhibition accompanying this year’s Feminist Institute Lab @penandbrushnyc , I immediately thought of Bang Geul Han. Please, join us for the opening of “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” on Thursday, March 7, 6-8 PM. In Bamboo Forest, Han’s 2022 generative animation installation, the software created by the artist pulls poetic chants of folk abortion practices and magical rituals collected by her from historical and contemporary sources across the globe and assembles them on a screen from swarms of loose letters. Occasionally, they form a quote from Rep. Henry J. Hyde, the author of the 1976 Hyde Amendment, which barred federal government from using Medicaid to fund abortions, revealing that the questions of race and class have always intersected with issues surrounding abortion. “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” Artists:  Pyaari Azzadi, Mildred Beltre, Nancy Baker Cahill, Jenae Christopher, Oasa DuVerney, Ash Edes, Lola Flash, Dorothy Frankel, AnnaBrooke Greene, Bang Geul Han, Rusudan Khizanishvili, Arel Lisette, Michela Martello, Felicita Felli Maynard, Dindga McCannon, Miriam Medrez, Camille Modesto, Rebecca Morgan, LaNia Roberts, Michelle Rosenberg, Nik Rye, Chayse Sampy, Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Chansong Woo Curators:   Pyaari Azaadi,Grace Aneiza Ali, Lise Curry, Dawn Delikat, Monika Fabijanska, Finley,  Parker Daley Garcia, Kathleen Landy, Nina Mdivani, Dena Muller, Claire Oliver, Bird Piccininni, Sara Reisman, Hall Rockefeller, Muys Snijders, Alice Gray Stites, Christina Strassfield, Hanne Tierney   @baombaom @penandbrushnyc @thefeministinstitute #hitmewithyourbestshot

🙏🙏🙏 Posted @withregram@monikafabijanska We did it again! In this conversation, we discussed Bang Geul Han’s works presented at her solo exhibition at The 8th Floor, with a special focus on her new VR artworks - where contemporary game environment meets 17th c. French romcom written by women to take us on a journey through the history of citizen rights in the US, and the concept of citizenship itself… We also discussed Bang Geul‘s body of work devoted to the intersection of abortion rights and the rights of people of color in the US. Thank you Bang Geul for your piercing mind and a great sense of humor, traveling with you is the best. Thank you to The Eighth Floor - @anjulinanda and @george_bolster - for asking me to do this interview, and AHL Foundation for publishing as part of The Archive of Korean Artists in America. Posted @withregram@rubinfoundation Artforum Critics’ Pick 🌟 Wendy Vogel writes that Bang Geul Han’s “Land of Tenderness” “addresses how language can be both embodied and obfuscating—an abstract tool of power that, nonetheless, struggles to encompass the full weight and breadth of personal experience.” Continue reading at the link in our bio or stories.
