‘What if this is the last piece I make?’ - Over the past four weeks, this intrusive thought is one of the ones that has dominated my mind the most. Every time I work on a piece of art my mind fills with thoughts about how uncertain our lives are right now and how the piece of art I’m working on could be my last. I might feel fine today, but tomorrow I could develop a fever and a cough; that cough may not be too bad, but in a mere few hours it could escalate to the point I can’t breathe. If you’ve been reading the other intrusive thoughts in my text pieces, you’ll have noticed ones like ‘What if I never get to hang out with my friends again?’ and ‘What if this is my last year alive?’ As an artist though, none are more prominent and scary than ‘What if this is the last piece I make?’ so I decided to make this very simple piece about it. Keep safe everyone, and stay inside so that we can beat this horrible illness. So much love to you all ♥️

In response to George Floyd’s death, Dallas artist Jammie Holmes last weekend flew banners showing Floyd’s last words across five cities. In addition to spreading the words physically, Holmes hoped that photos of the banners would be shared widely on social media:
1. Detroit: ‘PLEASE I CAN’T BREATHE’
2. Miami: ‘MY STOMACH HURTS’
3. Dallas: ‘MY NECK HURTS'
4. Los Angeles: ‘EVERYTHING HURTS’
5. New York: ‘THEY’RE GOING TO KILL ME’
