We’ve not been so good at keeping this a secret, but it’s finally time to 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙮 share what we’ve been working on for the last few years: Studio 2
Studio 2 is a large, open-plan daylight studio, catering to orchestral work, writing camps, bands, filmed recording & everything in between - designed in collaboration with
@ejrbarnes (interior architecture) &
@jakerudd (technical design)
The studio centres around an EMT A100 console (🙏
@knobexploit_music_instruments ) & features a Bechstein Baby Grand (🙏
@hereiskinder ) a Yamaha U1, Apogee Symphony MkII converters, a tonne of great outboard, synths, instruments, rare & unique audio odds & ends (🙏
@makenoiseproaudio ) & a gorgeous selection of mics that we’ve collected over the last few years, many from
@mjqltd & eagle-eyed mic deal finder,
@jakerudd and after a full demo of the
@atc_loudspeakers speaker range - (thanks for indulging us
@funkyjunk !) we ended up choosing SCM50s.
We were excited to explore a less conventional room layout that had no separation between the control area and live room, so that technicians, producers, and musicians could all occupy the same open-plan space. The entire studio is totally modular & mobile; the console & the outboard racks are connected together with just 6 multipin cables. This means that the control area can wheel away to other positions in the room to create an open-plan space suitable for film shoots & larger orchestral work. Studio 2 & Studio 3 have also been wired together, allowing Studio 2 to become a larger ‘live room’ & Studio 3 to transform into a dedicated ‘control room’
Thanks to everyone involved in the project over the last few years - in particular, our contractors
@swstannard Baltic DIYers
@snoop.hogg @adam_cygan @rorywytchard98 & to the in-house team at Baltic
@evielikesmusic @digby_music &
@lottiefield for all their work, vision & for rising to the challenge of building something different!
