No Dancing Allowed, @earthbound.studio ’s first feature-length documentary. It delves into the history of Street Dance and its suppression in New York City. Faced with government policies like the Cabaret Law of the 1920s and Mayor Giuliani’s quality-of-life campaigns, Street Dance communities and spaces were forced to adapt. The story of erasure, resilience, and nurture spans generations of dancers. Featuring Sekou Heru, Caleaf Sellers, Buddha Stretch, and many more influential artists responsible for incubating a necessary movement. We have so many people to thank for getting us this far. With a little over a week remaining for our crowdfunding campaign, we are reaching out to our friends and family for your support. It’s so so much more than just a film to us; it is a heartfelt movement to connect with NYC’s rich cultural heritage and the profound journey of the dance community.
