✈️ Aim High, Airmen!
Celebrations for our Command’s 15th anniversary continue with recognizing that October is full of many historical events for our Command, such as: Gen. Curtis E. LeMay becoming commander of Strategic Air Command (SAC) in 1948, the 1951 flight of Col. Michael McCoy delivering the first combat ready B-47B to SAC, the SM-65D Atlas going on alert at @vandenberg_sfb in 1959, and 1962 saw the first 10 Minuteman I ICBMs going on alert at @malmstromafb .
Thank you to the Airmen, Guardians, and loved ones of #StrikerNation who make our mission possible by being ALWAYS ready to provide long-range precision strike… Anytime and anywhere! We are proud to celebrate the Airmen of #Striker Nation who are innovative leaders that provide safe, secure, and lethal combat-ready forces for nuclear and conventional global strike… Today and tomorrow!

A B-1B Lancer is returning to the fleet well ahead of schedule after undergoing a historic "backbone" surgery. Teams from the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, in partnership with Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research, completed a massive structural repair, replacing a 33-foot section of the aircraft's fuselage.
The early success of this effort was made possible by digital engineering. By creating a high-fidelity digital twin of the bomber, the team was able to digitally map out and practice the complex repair, which accelerated the timeline. This achievement cut the repair time by three-and-a-half months, returning a critical asset to Air Force Global Strike Command and setting a new standard for legacy aircraft sustainment.

Today marks 81 years since Victory in Europe Day—the day the world celebrated the end of combat operations in Europe during #WWII.
Long before the formal surrender on May 8, 1945, the Eighth Air Force was relentlessly taking the fight to the enemy. By launching the largest strategic bombing campaign in history – 986 air missions with more than 600,000 sorties over 13 European countries – #mightyeighth Airmen dismantled the opposition's war machine from the skies and paved the way for a historic peace.
We continue to carry their legacy of courage and innovation forward into everything we do today.

Rotors up, mission on.
Aircrews with the 40th and 550th Helicopter Squadrons answer the call across 13,800 square miles of missile field, delivering rapid security response, providing aerial overwatch of convoy movements, and flying emergency airlift wherever the mission demands.
From routine missions to short-notice launches in Montana’s worst weather, helos keep launch facilities reachable and response times short—any place, any time, any conditions.
Their reach sustains the nuclear deterrence mission from above.

Sentinel Experts Keep Montanans Informed During Local Town Halls
Hundreds of community members gathered across Great Falls, Lewistown, and Conrad to connect with Malmstrom and Air Force Global Strike Command leaders during recent Sentinel town halls. The events provided an open forum to discuss everything from employment opportunities to security concerns, while reinforcing the Air Force’s commitment to transparency and partnership. As the Sentinel program continues to progress within the land-based leg of the nation’s nuclear triad, leaders remain focused on keeping the public informed every step of the way.
“It’s going to get really busy around here, and we want to make sure that we establish a framework for communication early on,” said Peter Sturdivant, the director of Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Infrastructure for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. “Hence the reason why we do numerous town hall events throughout the years: so that people see the Air Force truly is an open and honest partner in this process.”

Under Secretary of the Air Force Matt Lohmeier visited Barksdale AFB and met with leaders from Air Force Global Strike Command and 2nd Bomb Wing to gain insight into #TeamBarksdale’s mission and capabilities. The immersion also included a physical training session with Airmen, an infrastructure readiness briefing, a tour of the Weapons Training Systems center, and a close-up look at the B-52H Stratofortress.
Eyes in the sky, experts on the ground.
During Exercise #AfricanLion26, two U.S. Air Force B-52H Stratofortress aircraft integrated with Moroccan F-16 Fighting Falcons over a training area to provide highly realistic close air support (CAS).
This joint flight gave Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, Canada, and Hungary the opportunity to execute complex scenarios that hone their proficiency, precision and interoperability.
Bomber integration signals our ability to project combat-credible airpower forward, while operating alongside multilateral Allies and partners, throughout Africa, Europe and the world.
