๐บ๐ธ๐ Closing out Police Week
Team McConnell concluded Police Week by honoring the service, sacrifice, and dedication of law enforcement professionals across our installation and the surrounding communities.
While Police Week only lasts a week, the men and women who protect and serve our communities continue that mission every single day. We remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty and thank those who continue serving today. ๐ซก
Congratulations to the Airmen of ALS Class 26-D!
After five weeks of hard work and dedication, these Airmen officially graduated and celebrated the completion of Airman Leadership School.

A purrfect day to celebrate our pets ๐พ
The McConnell Commissary invited pets (and their owners) to celebrate Pet Day with giveaways, raffles, prizes and fun. Local pet organizations supported the event, making the day a fun experience for attendees. ๐
Lunch was provided by the commissary, and the 22nd Security Forces Squadron team put on a military working dog demonstration for the crowd.
๐ถ Working Dog Wednesday!
Meet military working dog Gero, he's got silly little face, but a serious job. ๐พ Gero is an 85-pound German Shepherd handled by Staff Sgt. Tony Higgs. Known as the goofball of the kennel, Gero keeps the team smiling while still helping support the mission.
Follow along each Wednesday as we introduce these good boys and girls who help protect and support the McConnell mission. ๐๐ฆด
Growing gardens & blooming besties ๐ธ
Team McConnell recently spent time creating their own potted gardens with live flowers arranged in unique and creative ways. Airmen and families enjoyed the spring weather while building connections and adding a little extra color to the day. ๐ชด๐ผ
Police Week kicked off with an opening ceremony as Team McConnell gathered to recognize the service and sacrifice of law enforcement and pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. ๐
Throughout the next 24 hours, volunteer Airmen will continuously walk while carrying the security forces guidon, passing it from shift to shift as a symbol of remembrance for fallen law enforcement and support for those currently serving. ๐บ๐ธ
Knock knock.. special delivery ๐โ๏ธ
(alternative... Not your average everyday delivery ๐โ๏ธ )
Today we welcomed our newest KC-46 to the fleet as Deputy Commander Col. Aaron Strode completed his final flight, delivering the aircraft straight from Boeing to McConnell.
A final flight, another Pegasus home, and a flightline full of Airmen there to celebrate. ๐บ๐ธ
Cleaning up a classic โก
Airmen from the 22nd Maintenance Groupโs transient alert section recently cleaned and maintained the F-105 Thunderchief static display. โ๏ธ
While the aircraft is officially owned by the Air Force museum system, our Airmen help preserve the display and keep a piece of Air Force history looking its best for Team McConnell and community.
Next time you're driving onto base, give the Thunderchief a look! ๐
New kennels, who dis? ๐ฆด
Construction is underway on a new $9 million kennel project designed to better support our good working pups and their handlers. ๐
The upgraded facility will include eight new kennels, a storm shelter and indoor training areas that allow conditioining, even during inclement weather. Replacing kennels originally built in the 1990s, the project is expected to take 14 months to complete and is currently scheduled to finish in September 2026. ๐พ

Gear, Games & Grub ๐ฎ
Outdoor Rec hosted an afternoon of food, fun and activities during their open house event, giving Airmen and families the chance to check out rental gear, enjoy free walking tacos and compete for door prizes. โ๏ธ
Visitors also spent the day playing games, enjoying inflatables and connecting with the Outdoor Rec team while learning about everything available through the program.

Whipping up excellence ๐ซก
Culinary Airmen from McConnell had the opportunity to step away from the dining facility and spend the day learning from professional chefs at the Redler Institute of Culinary Arts in Andover, Kansas.
The Airmen spent the day working alongside instructors, learning new techniques, refining their skills and gaining experience. ๐
Question is.. where do we sign up to volunteer as taste testers next time? ๐

๐พ Time for another Working Dog Wednesday!
This week, meet Milan! ๐
He's 63 lbs of energy and heโs just as handsome as he is hardworking. One is his favorite activities is running with his handler. Heโs highly work-oriented and loves to stay busy, always ready to take on the next task.
One thingโs for sure, Milan never has to work hard for compliments. ๐๐
