🏃➡️What does it take to run a 4-minute, 59-second mile pace for 26.2 miles? Pure grit, extreme resilience, and elite preparation. 🤯🏃♂️
AFMC's 1st Lt. Ryan Johnson, an Airman and program manager at Hanscom AFB, recently proved what it means to push the limits of human endurance at the 130th Boston Marathon. Competing in the professional field, he finished 30th overall—and 14th among Americans—out of 30,000 runners!
His journey to a jaw-dropping personal record of 2:10:20 was not easy. Around the 10-kilometer mark, he faced severe physical challenges and even considered stopping. But leaning on his rigorous training, mental fortitude, and the support of his family and coach at the starting line, he rallied and pushed through the pain to secure his incredible finish. 🏅
His performance is a masterclass in consistency and determination, proving that whether in uniform or on the race course, our Airmen are built to overcome adversity.
Drop a 👏 in the comments to congratulate 1st Lt. Johnson on this monumental achievement!

🥾Pushing limits and forging elite warfighters!
Nine candidates recently stepped up to the ultimate challenge during a rigorous two-day assessment hosted by the 75th Security Forces Squadron at @officialhillafb . Their goal: proving they have the strength, stamina, and grit to attend the legendary U.S. Army Air Assault School at Fort Campbell.
Day one tested upper body endurance and cardiovascular fitness with push-ups, sit-ups, rope climbs, and a blistering two-mile run. Day two brought the ultimate test of mental fortitude—a crushing 12-mile ruck march under load.
Historically, this Army course sees a 15 percent washout rate on the first day alone, but two of our exceptional Airmen powered through and met the high standards required to attend! Massive congratulations to these warriors! 💪

✈️From the desert boneyard straight back to the fight! 🏜️✈️
After spending years in storage, a U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer is back in action thanks to a massive two-year regeneration effort by the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex at Tinker Air Force Base.
It took over 200 dedicated personnel from the 567th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron working extended shifts to overhaul systems and replace more than 500 components. After soaring through the Oklahoma skies in a stripped, bare-metal configuration for check flights, the bomber received a fresh coat of paint and headed to Dyess Air Force Base to rejoin the active fleet with brand new nose art! 🎨
This epic revival proves that with the right maintenance and teamwork, our legacy aircraft are still primed to project power anywhere in the world.

What happens when the heaviest burden you carry is the one no one else can see? 🤔
For years, Jacqulyn E. Lopez, an Air Force Test Center executive administrator, masked profound childhood trauma and instability behind a high-achieving exterior. But as she learned, unhealed pain does not stay contained forever—it quietly erodes the very foundation of our readiness.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, Jacqulyn is bravely sharing her journey of confronting her past, surviving the chaos of the Route 91 Harvest festival, and discovering the life-saving power of active wingmanship. 💙
Through resources like the Employee Assistance Program, she realized that true strength is not about suppressing pain or suffering in silence. True strength is recognizing when you need support and asking for help before a crisis hits.
Her powerful story of resilience serves as a vital reminder that warfighter readiness goes far beyond technical training and equipment. It is fundamentally about our people and ensuring they are seen, valued, and supported by those around them. ✈️
If you are carrying an invisible weight, you do not have to carry it alone. Seeking assistance is a critical requirement of readiness. Immediate help is always available:

🚀 🚀 To the moon and beyond! The @afresearchlab proudly supported NASA’s historic Artemis II mission to return humans to the lunar surface. 🌕
From enduring extreme g-forces in the Department of Defense's only human-rated centrifuge to refining spacecraft thermal protection for reentry, AFRL's cutting-edge facilities and expertise help ensure astronaut safety and mission readiness.
AFRL leadership emphasizes that discovering and delivering critical science for warfighters uniquely positions the laboratory to support broader national endeavors. By teaming up with partners like NASA and commercial space entities, AFRL is accelerating technology development and generating amazing capabilities at speed.
The core of every operation is the human element. Through advanced testing in facilities like the Biodynamics Lab and space tracking at the Maui Space Surveillance Site, AFRL's groundbreaking research is enhancing resilience, safety, and well-being for astronauts facing the unforgiving environment of space.

✈️Locked...loaded...and ready for the weekend!
The 96th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Blue and Red teams at Eglin Air Force Base picked up bombs and missiles to battle each other in first quarter weapons load competition.
A weapons load competition is a high-stakes, timed event where crews compete to load munitions onto aircraft—such as F-15s—as quickly and accurately as possible, testing proficiency and speed under pressure. These competitions evaluate technical expertise, safety, and teamwork to ensure combat readiness, strengthen camaraderie and enhance skills.

✈️From the boneyard to the front lines. A legacy reborn.
The 7th Bomb Wing's B-1B Lancer, "Apocalypse II," isn't just an aircraft; it's a bridge through time. Regenerated from storage at the 309th AMARG, this bomber now carries the name and spirit of a WWII B-24 crew, honoring their sacrifice.
Its return to service showcases the incredible ingenuity of our Airmen who brought this powerful machine back to life. "Apocalypse II" is a testament to our commitment to honoring the past while forging the future of airpower. A story of resilience, respect, and readiness.
#DYK The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, is the largest aircraft storage and preservation facility in the world.
As demonstrated with the B-1B Lancer "Apocalypse II," one of AMARG's most critical roles is regenerating aircraft and returning them to active service. This can involve bringing them out of long-term storage and completing years' worth of deferred maintenance and upgrades to make them flight-ready again. This capability acts as a strategic reserve for national security.
