You've seen it before: city spaces get overlooked, boarded up or written off. But @aaron_asis sees possibility.
His work in Seattle, NYC and beyond reclaims underused walls, forgotten corners and in-between urban spaces, transforming them into places people actually want to linger. The color draws you in, but the real impact is what happens at the intersection of community and art: real conversations, real connections and renewed pride by the people who live there.
At it's best, public art isn’t just visual. It creates gathering points and spreads creativity outward. It shifts how we move through our neighborhoods and how we see one another within them.
On March 13 at @paperwhale 's Rising Tide, Aaron will share how these projects come to life—from concept to collaboration—and why investing in shared space matters more than ever. If you care about community, culture and the future of our city, join us.

What if the most powerful art in Bellingham isn’t inside a gallery, but waiting on the wall you walk past every day?
On March 13, Rising Tide returns with a high-energy conversation about how creativity transforms shared space—and why that matters right now.
We’re welcoming artist and filmmaker @aaron_asis , whose bold public works have activated spaces in Seattle and beyond, turning overlooked walls into landmarks and everyday streets into community gathering spots. His work doesn’t just live in a city: it inspires it.
From murals that spark dialogue to installations that invite participation, this is a night about how art can challenge systems, reshape narratives and deepen our connection to place.
If you care about culture, community and the future of where we live, this Rising Tide is for you.
