Developed in collaboration with @philipselway of @radiohead ‘We Are a Body’ brings together leading figures in British music and choreography to explore how, in a culture that often prioritises the mind, dance offers something else - a vital, felt intelligence.
Very grateful to everyone who helped bring this film to life. Spending time in the room with Philip, Sue, Kenneth, Liam and Simone felt like a rare privilege. I don’t come from a dance background, so it often felt like I was being let in on a secret.
What I witnessed wasn’t just movement or choreography, but a reminder that conversations about presence, memory, emotion, and the connected intelligence of the body can take place through physical expression.

Against all odds, these studios lasted this long. But a few weeks ago they got pulled off a roof.
For nearly 20 years these were affordable studios for artists and creatives. It was a genuine haven -basically a tree house above Shoreditch. Over the years, so many brilliant people passed through those tubes and made extraordinary things.
Award-winning feature films were written there. Plays, exhibitions, albums, television scores, music videos made, music festivals created, documentaries, photography, theatre design and so much more.
Jim even kept bees on the roof and him and Pete made honey (which ended up in a MasterChef winning dish).
Last year Village Underground needed more money, they posted a TikTok of the rooftop. It went viral. Now the studios are being turned into a bar.
I think that’s called bittersweet.
In 2020 @christian_alvez told me a story I couldn’t stop thinking about.
This isn’t the kind of story I usually work on - but the impact of it stayed with me.
Partly because it touches on something I care deeply about: how art and culture can shape and change lives, and seeing that power turned against people inspired me to pursue this story.
In Edmonton, North London - a borough facing violence and poverty - a music studio called Boom Box was created for young people. Teens involved in petty crime came to make music and stay off the streets - only to later discover the studio had actually been set up as part of a police undercover operation.
Together with @christian_alvez and @matt.hichens I began developing the story that would eventually become the @hbomax series Boom Box: Beats and Betrayal. As the story grew over the following years, I led the development @roganproduction , working with an incredible team to research, piece together and shape a complex story and help bring the experiences of those affected by the operation to light.
I’m incredibly proud to see it out in the world now. With The Guardian giving it a ★★★★★ review and describing it as “the most astonishing British TV”.
@bafta & @ee , in partnership with Young Film Academy, gave a group of young people the opportunity to make their first short film, mentored by @davidjonsson__ and other BAFTA mentors.
It was inspiring to document the process and work alongside such a great group of emerging filmmakers.
Trailer for the longer doc above.
