A dark pulsating bassline, meets acidic squelching synths with a rhythm designed to make you catch your breath. I wish I could be more cool and understated but I am not…Feel free to scroll on if you’d like or you can read more about this track and what it means to me. ⬇️ 2024 was a difficult year, I wasn’t in a great mental state but learning music changed everything. Whether it was in the studio, on the DF or mixing in my room, focussing on music gave me a new sense of hope and purpose. It helped me find a confidence and perseverance in myself that I never knew I had. When I first started learning Ableton, getting stuck, closing my laptop and thinking “I can’t do this” was a regular occurrence and sometimes it would honestly take me weeks before I felt confident enough to try again. But now when I get stuck, I am able to take a breath and come back because I know I am capable of more than I realise. I still have SO much to learn to get closer to the sounds I want to be making but I am really proud of my progress. Thank you to Andy, for mentoring me in my production journey. This track would not be the same without your advice and encouragement. Thank you to Tim, who has helped me from day dot, sending tutorials, feedback and words of encouragement. Recently I’ve been feeling a little stuck when it comes to song choice in my mixes. I felt like every time I found some cool tracks, those same tracks would then be used by all the artists I loved already in their own mixes. It felt like I was in this weird bandcamp / instagram loop where all the tracks coming in on my BC, would then appear on my IG a few days later in a mix. I’m currently taking a mixing class with @tangela__t at @mothership.marrickville which has been amazing and I was really inspired by some people in the class talking about their conscious effort to use female/nb/flinta producers. This made me feel firstly disappointed in myself for not making this same conscious effort before but at the same time filled with a new energy of inspiration to find new music. I decided to set myself a task of using only female/nb producers for my next mix, as a way to get out of this little creative loop and uplift other amazing female/nb artists. I then realised that series of challenges could be a super exciting mix concept, inviting on my friends, inspirations and artists to take on a creative challenge. Whether it’s expanding your horizons with different types of producers or bringing together opposing forces of different genres and BPMs, I am super excited to introduce to you Exit Loop Radio, a series of mixes designed to get you out of creative rut. I hope this series will encourage you to try different types of mixing, find new music or at least be an enjoyable ride!! Sometimes you have to stop and smell the butterflies 🦋🧚🫧 @outsider_festival was truly the most magical weekend. I can’t thank @headnoiz.unltd and everyone involved enough for the opportunity to play on this beautiful stage and at this amazing festival with so many talented artists. This was the longest set I’ve played (3 hours) and also my first downtempo set. I absolutely adored the experience and it was so cool being so close to people while playing (aside from needing to pee so bad at the end…how are other DJs doing this lol). And thank you so much to my friends and anyone who came to watch my set, it truly means so much to me. 🫶🏽🫶🏽 I believe the set was recorded so I hope to share it with you soon. ✨✨🥰🥰

Narainee is a Gadigal-based DJ and producer, weaving together electronic sounds that span deep trancey basslines, dubby and dark textures, paired with acidic, electric squelches. Her favourite place to play is in nature where her sets feel right at home amongst the bush and trees. Driven by a deep belief in the power of community, Narainee lives by the ethos that the best way to be part of something is to contribute to it. Off the decks, you’ll find her scanning tickets at a warehouse or presenting on air at community radio station fbi 94.5, always tuned into the collective energy of the dancefloor. Her curiosity and commitment extends to fuel Exit Loop, a mix series designed to shake artists out of their creative comfort zones.
