Syd/Eora, if you're an artist of Asian diaspora, this one’s for you. For the first time, we’re bringing our Asian Heritage Week exhibition to Eora.
Last year, we had Sydney artists fly down to Naarm to be part of our Asian Heritage Week exhibition. This year, we’re bringing it to you and expanding it into a full opening night experience with art, music and market stalls.
We’re opening up ‘A Family Gathering’, a 3-day pop-up exhibition bringing artists into one room to share work across all mediums. Rather than a set theme, it’s about the experience of gathering and sitting alongside one another.
Running 12–14 June, with a ticketed opening night featuring DJs and market stalls.
Applications are now open for exhibiting artists and stallholders. If you’re based in Sydney, we’d love to have you in the room.
Apply via our info pack (linked in bio)
Exhibition applications close 12 May
Market stall EOIs open until filled

Introducing our next Summer Daze artist: Zoe Pavlou
‘Zoe Pavlou’s Ballistic brings together textile and painted works that trace emotional states across different stages of life. Moving between teenage escapism and the complexities of adulthood and parenthood, the collection explores spirituality, memory and the intensity of feeling that sits between them all.
As part of Summer Daze, the bold colour and expressive energy of these works echo the warmth and vibrancy of the season, drawing those emotions into the shared space.
─── ⋆。°☼°。⋆ ───
Zoe Pavlou is an artist/nurse living in Naarm. At present she is exploring the use of spray paint and textiles. Over the past two years she has participated in many group shows across the city and has held two solo shows. Her works often explore her vibrant inner world.
Zoe enjoys the art of the working class – everyday people’s loves, desires and celebrations. It must be accessible, and it doesn’t necessarily have to have a strong political message. It can bring softness or humour to our often harsh and sterile world.

Welcoming Sasha Joe to our Asian Heritage Week Naarm/Melbourne line up who is presenting an Artist Book made from acrylic, cotton and ink: ‘Rice, Oil, Soy - and other stories from the cabbage patch’.
Sasha Joe’s ‘Rice, Oil, Soy - and other stories from the cabbage patch’ is a series of recipes, interwoven with stories, memories and Cantonese heritage. Rooted in cooking, growing, and the process of cultivation, this book documents Sasha’s upbringing, her parents’ early lives, and her migrant grandparents’ journeys as fruit shop and market garden owners in New Zealand.
Sasha explores how food bridges the gap between each of these generations and brings families, both biological and chosen, together to eat, gather, and form connections. Ultimately, this book is a celebration of seasonal cooking, found identity, and belonging through the sharing of food.
𖦞.─── ·₊˚ ˖♡۫𓏼˚̣̣̣⟡ৎ ───˖𖦞.
Sasha Joe is a young creative based in Melbourne/Naarm who is particularly interested in the intersection of manual and digital processes. Her works invite tactile interaction, embodying culture, memory, and connection through material storytelling. As she navigates her identity in her twenties, Sasha has begun to grow increasingly motivated to uncover the rich history of her family and learn more about her Cantonese heritage.

This June, GROUND invites audiences into a state of deep listening.
As layers of modular synthesis evolve in real time, laser and atmosphere move alongside the sound, creating an experience that is both meditative and physically immersive. The performance shifts slowly between tension and stillness, drawing attention toward resonance, repetition and subtle change.
Rather than watching from a distance, audiences sit within the work itself. Sound travels through the space, light cuts through haze and the environment continuously transforms around the listener.
Presented by Platform Presents and SoundCheck, GROUND returns to Melbourne following a sold out debut last year and arrives in Sydney for the first time.

Joining us on our opening night is second skin, the down tempo, alt pop alias of Korean-Australian artist nabii. From 7:15pm, she will draw you in with her enigmatic and sultry, live performances filled with moody basslines, ethereal vocals and songwriting that lingers.
𖦞.─── ·₊˚ ˖♡۫𓏼˚̣̣̣⟡ৎ ───˖𖦞.
Born in the dead of the night, second skin embodies the feeling of a nightcap, a comedown after a rave and is designed for those who find beauty in melancholy. Showing a new side of her artistry, stepping away from the high-energy world of dance music to deliver something more atmospheric, raw, and honest. Second skin is a testament to her versatility, love for music and experimentation, pushing the boundaries of genre and self expression. She has debuted in Eora/Sydney at Sugar Glider, supported Trick Pony at the coveted downtempo evening Mezannine, here in Naarm and is gently finding her place in the scene.
Outside of her two aliases she runs AngelFM a community radio show dedicated to building a platform for femmes and POC femmes in music, with a passion for pushing inclusivity in the scene. With anticipated releases on the way, come immerse yourself in the second skin experience.
