I was introduced to Janet Panetta through @frandpapa , who had studied with her in his twenties and thirties. I was probably around 23 when I started regularly taking her class at her studio on W 29th Street. Janet gave me a newfound love for ballet. It was a technique that I always struggled with as it felt too rigid and constrictive. Her teaching style was simple yet effective. She taught where to place your bones to move with efficiency and consistency. She would often tell me I was working too hard and to make it easier. Her eye for corrections, her humor and wit, and her dedication to her students is what made her special, among other things.
I'm so happy I got to see her one last time a week ago with @tbgdaddy1 . We got to give her a hug and say we loved her.
"Forward and up" dear Janet. I love you and will miss you. Thank you for making me the dancer I am today.

2020 wasn't all bad. Here is some good stuff... tour to Boca Raton with The Bang Group; first international tour of my own choreography to Mexico City; first APAP of my work; selected as DOTL NJ Emerging Commissioned Choreographer; made a new work with my dancers; performed in the EstroGenius Festival; my piece Yma Dream was shown in DanceNow's Virtual Celebration; helped produce four wonderful artists for Women in Motion; performed on the roof of Arts On Site; Nut/Cracked had its 18th season; celebrated my 3rd wedding anniversary with my love; joined Arts On Site as their Community Developer; and taught many, many, many Zoom yoga classes with Shado.
