A wonderful evening of music! ✨ Huge thanks to the staff, board, and colleagues with APAP - Association of Performing Arts Professionals - for joining Cantus at the stunning Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for their Fine Arts Series.
Events like these remind us how the arts truly activate our community and remain a vital part of the fabric of our lives. It was an honor to share this performance with such a dedicated group of peers. 🎶

The national arts community needs your voice.
On April 3rd, President Trump released his FY2027 budget proposal, which would effectively shut down three key cultural agencies:
▪️National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
▪️National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
▪️Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
The budget requests just $29M to "close" the NEA and $38M to wind down the NEH (not to sustain them).
Why this matters:
▪️The NEA funds an average of 2,300 grants per year, reaching every Congressional district.
▪️Most grants go to small and mid-sized organizations (budgets under $2M).
▪️The NEA funds arts programs in 678 more counties than private foundations can reach.

Federal arts funding reaches communities that no other source can. Together we can ensure the performing arts remain a vital part of civic life in the U.S.

📢 The performing arts field needs your voice—and the window to act closes March 18.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is legally required to process O and P artist visas within 14 days. The reality? Average processing times now exceed 10 months.
The impact is real...
▪️ Arts organizations are forced to pay $2,965 per petition for premium processing just to approach timely results
▪️ Even premium processing often misses its own 15-business-day deadline
▪️ Tours are being canceled. Local and small businesses are losing revenue. International artists are being turned away.
A bipartisan effort led by Representatives @repteresalf (D-NM-03) and @repmariasalazar (R-FL-27) is urging action to ensure USCIS meets its statutory 14-day processing requirement.
If you’re based in the U.S., contact your House representative by March 18 using the @orchleague ’s ready-to-use email tool and talking points at the link in bio.
