Today is about celebrating the quiet victories in the lab, the breakthroughs in the classroom and the unwavering support of the families who helped make it all possible. Our graduate and doctoral students have earned their titles and hoods, and we could not be prouder to see them step into the world as true future makers.
Thank you to Charlie Dent M’93 for sharing inspiring words with our graduates today, and congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🤎🤍 #lehighgrad

The best work at Lehigh rarely happens alone. For the Class of ’26, the road to graduation was paved with coffee dates that turned into research breakthroughs and office hours that became mentorships. From engineering the future of healthcare to launching new ventures, our students and their mentors prove that we’re at our best when we’re working together.

From recognition to real-world impact.
In the first year since Lehigh earned R1 research status, university researchers are tackling complex challenges, making discoveries that matter and driving momentum forward.
Meet faculty, students and alumni who are turning this milestone into meaningful breakthroughs in the Spring Alumni Bulletin linked in our bio.
Lehigh University researchers Dr. Zilong Pan and Ph.D. student Jiayan Zhu are studying the impact of gamification on student motivation and learning outcomes. Pennsylvania-based company First in Math designed a gamified math program that engages students with educational technology and makes learning more fun, interactive, and accessible. Pan and Zhu recently published their findings along with Jennifer Kling, who works with First in Math. @lehigheducation@lehighalumni@FirstInMath #research #lehigh #ai #gamification #firstinmath
On Lehigh’s last day of spring classes, more than 100 mechanical engineers joined around 90 local students in Broughal Middle School’s gym to put 32 custom-built race cars to the test. The middle schoolers spent the semester collaborating with Lehigh’s ME 240 class, culminating in Lehigh/Victaulic Race Day.
In the course, undergraduates apply manufacturing techniques, such as CAD modeling, CNC machining, and injection molding, to real-world challenges. Just as important, the partnership offers Broughal students early exposure to engineering concepts—and to role models who are only a few years older but already immersed in college-level STEM.
Victaulic, a global leader in piping systems and engineering solutions, is a longtime supporter of Lehigh’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.
A new mural entitled Steel Rooted/ Wild Blooms was unveiled on the last day of classes. It was created by @deirdremurphyart ‘s Biodiversity Mural painting class, and installed on the deck of @countryclubbrewing facing the greenway. This beautiful artwork is the result of a semester long project and collaboration between interdisciplinary Lehigh student teams and community partners. Visiting artist Jason Slowik helped the class refine their images to present for feedback. Native plant and animal species fill the mural alongside pollinators, endangered species and a winding hops plant in honor of the brewery that hosts the work.
The project is supported by Lehigh University’s Francis J. Trembley Endowed Chair in Earth and Environmental Sciences, the Environmental Studies program, the Department of Art, Architecture, and Design, Country Club Brewing, the Southside Arts District, and the Bethlehem Fine Arts Council.
