BEWEGTE ORTE was an interactive data visualization we built for the Activism Camp at @volkskundemuseumwien , as part of @biennale.wien 2024.
The exhibit enabled activists and visitors to share their feelings about places and stories in Austria and if they made an impact on them. The points also store affiliations to climate organizations, and therefore provide a snapshot of the climate movement(s) in Austria in 2024. Through the visualization, trends and contradictions become visible and invite for discussions.

Touching Data: the interactive installation “Data Soil” makes Munich’s Digital Twin tangible.📀
In the reel, Korbinian Kringer (GeodataService Munich) and Christoph Kirmaier (3e8.Studio) introduce the work. Light, movement and topography translate complex datasets into spatial images – revealing concrete stories about the city: unexploded ordnance, urban heat, accessibility.
Data Soil shows how data shapes planning – and how abstract information becomes a tool for everyday urban life.
What questions about Munich would you like to explore here? To be experienced in the exhibition CITY IN THE CLOUD. DATA ON THE GROUND at the Architecture Museum of the TUM in the Pinakothek der Moderne.
Further discussion in our DATA TALK “Urban Data Governance”, 29 January 2026, 6:00–7:30 pm ·

Daten zum Anfassen: Die interaktive Installation “Data Soil” macht den Digitalen Zwilling München physisch erfahrbar. 📀

🏙️ Is the city more than a computer?
The so-called Smart City uses data to “optimize” and “manage” complexity. But how exactly are these digital systems reshaping our urban environments and architectural practice?
CITY IN THE CLOUD. DATA ON THE GROUND examines how data modelling, machine learning, and AI are transforming the design, construction, and even the deconstruction of buildings. Through a case study developed in collaboration with the Digital Twin Munich, the exhibition asks: What if data were used to empower citizens instead of serving surveillance capitalism?
Can we envision data as a public infrastructure and a tool for civic engagement?

CITY IN THE CLOUD.

Critical raw materials such as gold, copper, cobalt, nickel, tin, and lithium are traded daily on global markets. Though they seem like inert matter, their prices are volatile, shaped by supply and demand, production forecasts, geopolitical tensions, industrial needs, and speculation. Value is not defined by their presence in the ground but by their listing on exchanges, where prices constantly fluctuate.
This display combines material samples with real-time market data from platforms such as Trading Economics. It highlights the disconnect between physical reality and economic abstraction, prompting reflection on value, control, and what remains hidden beneath the surface.

From the exhibition “City in the Cloud, Data on the Ground” at @architekturmuseum_tum , @pinakothekdermoderne - showing exhibits we developed from conceptualization and ideation into full realization, and that have been experienced and interacted with since October by a few thousand visitors.
Our work turns publicly accessible information into engaging, interactive environments for museums, institutional contexts, and public spaces. We create systems for public conditions: stable over time, maintainable in operation, and readable for diverse audiences.
In 2026, we’ll deepen and extend the workflows and pipelines we’ve developed for long runtimes and maximum stability.
