Did you know that young people actively help support new acquisitions for the collections of the Pinakothek der Moderne? This is Julius from PIN.YC, the museum’s young friends association. Alongside exhibition visits, studio tours and artist talks, the community also supports acquisitions for the museum’s collections. Behind him: „Golem“ by Boris Saccone — the latest acquisition supported by PIN.YC and now part of the collection @pinakotheken . The next acquisition will support a work by Conny Maier for the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München and takes place on September 18. Have you spotted it yet? In front of the Pinakothek der Moderne — right outside the windows of the exhibition CONVIVIUM. FOOD SYSTEMS AT THE LIMIT @architekturmuseum_tum — a summer kitchen with a large cooking island and communal dining table has just appeared. The project was designed and built by Tillmann Gebauer together with students from the seminar “Design Build CONVIVIUM. The Kitchen as a Public Space” at the TUM Chair of Architectural History and Curatorial Practice. It was realized in the TUM Designfactory 1:1. In the video, Tillmann introduces the summer kitchen. Until September, this space will host collective chopping, planting, harvesting, cooking — and discussions. The summer kitchen understands cooking as a public space: a place for exchange, encounters, and new perspectives on our food systems. All events are free of charge. 2025 von PIN. für die Sammlung angekauft — und jetzt in der @pinakothekdermoderne zu sehen: Raphael Weilgunis Skulptur „Kontakt Hekate“ ist seit April Teil der Ausstellung „MIX & MATCH. Die Sammlung neu entdecken“. Wir freuen uns sehr, die Arbeit nun in der Sammlung präsentiert zu sehen. Raphael Weilgunis skulpturale Praxis kreist um Zeit, Transformation und unvorhersehbare materielle Prozesse. In memory of Georg Baselitz, the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München presents twelve major works on paper by the artist in the display corridor of the Pinakothek der Moderne.
 Spanning from the 1960s to later phases of his career, the selection offers insight into Baselitz’s radically expressive drawing practice. The Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München holds a unique collection of around 1,100 graphic works by the artist. GEORG BASELITZ (1938–2026)

09 May – 28 June 2026 - Zum Gedenken an Georg Baselitz zeigt die Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München zwölf Meisterblätter des Künstlers im Vitrinengang der Pinakothek der Moderne.
 Die Auswahl spannt einen Bogen von den 1960er Jahren bis in spätere Werkphasen und gibt Einblick in Baselitz’ radikal expressive Zeichnungskunst. Die Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München besitzt einen weltweit einzigartigen Bestand von rund 1.100 graphischen Arbeiten des Künstlers.

What is the strangest dream you’ve ever had?⁠ ⁠ In the painting ‘The Apotheosis of Homer – Gala’s Daydream’, Salvador Dalí invites us to explore a bizarre dream world. The dreamer in this world is Gala, Dalí’s wife and muse, who is depicted on the right as a nude figure. Gala hides her face with her arm to protect herself from the visions rushing in. On the left, we see a bust of the blind Homer with a crutch. Salvador Dalí was influenced at a young age by Greek history and art. Strongly influenced by the principles of the Bauhaus, the architect and designer Egon Eiermann played a key role in shaping the visual identity of postwar West Germany. His designs reflected a modern, democratic spirit through their clarity, restraint, and practicality. Across both architecture and furniture, Eiermann consistently pursued innovative construction methods combined with a strong commitment to functionality. The screen shown here was designed in 1968 as part of the interior furnishings for the parliamentary building of the German Bundestag in Bonn, also designed by Eiermann. These folding partitions were placed in the foyers of members’ offices and outside committee meeting rooms. Alongside versions featuring plywood panels in white, green, or orange, another variation was produced with canvas covering. On view until May 31 in the exhibition: REFLEXION. LIGHT MIRRORS TRANSPARENCY - Geprägt von den Prinzipien des Bauhauses spielte der Architekt und Designer Egon Eiermann eine zentrale Rolle für das Erscheinungsbild der jungen Bundesrepublik nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Seine Entwürfe standen für eine moderne, demokratische Haltung und verbanden gestalterische Klarheit mit funktionaler Präzision. Sowohl in seiner Architektur als auch in seinen Möbelentwürfen verfolgte Eiermann konsequent innovative und praxisorientierte Gestaltungslösungen. Der hier gezeigte Paravant entstand 1968 als Teil der Innenausstattung des Abgeordnetenhauses des Deutschen Bundestags in Bonn, das ebenfalls von Eiermann entworfen wurde. Die faltbaren Raumteiler wurden in den Foyers der Abgeordnetenbüros sowie vor den Sitzungssälen der Ausschüsse eingesetzt. Neben Varianten mit Sperrholzfüllungen in Weiß, Grün oder Orange existierte auch eine Ausführung mit Segeltuchbespannung. Zu sehen in der Ausstellung: REFLEXION. Take a breath and look up. At first glance, the space seems almost empty. But as you linger, a symphony unfolds. Red, green, soft pink, ochre, and white. Rei Naito created an intricate choreography of individual colours and relational positions for the sixty small-format coloured bodies she made for our Rotunda. COLOUR BEGINNING is now open. Whether you sit on the stools designed by the artist or move through the light falling from the rosette—the colors begin to float. Give yourselves the time to see. The more you stay, the more the world within the Rotunda opens up. It is a place to reside, to observe, and to simply be. We look forward to seeing you. Auf den ersten Blick wirkt der Raum fast leer. Doch wer verweilt, dem offenbart sich eine ganze Symphonie. Rot, Grün, zartes Rosa, Ocker, Weiß. Rei Naito hat für ihr aktuelles Rotundenprojekt eine ausgefeilte Choreographie der einzelnen Farben sowie eine Hängeordnung für die rund 60 kleinformatigen, von ihr gefertigten Farbkörper entwickelt. COLOUR BEGINNING ist ab heute für euch geöffnet. Ob ihr auf den eigens entworfenen Hockern Platz nehmt oder euch unter dem Licht der großen Rosette bewegt – die Farben beginnen zu schweben. Nehmt euch die Zeit zum Schauen. Je länger ihr bleibt, desto mehr öffnet sich die Welt in der Rotunde. Ein Ort zum Verweilen, zum Beobachten und zum Ankommen. Wir freuen uns auf euren Besuch. 🎊Happy Birthday, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner! Born in 1880, Kirchner captured the restless spirit of modernity like no other. As the dominant artistic figure of the Brücke group, he initially sought immediacy—a synthesis of humanity and nature in paradisiacal harmony. With his move to Berlin, this focus shifted: In “Rotes Elisabethufer” (1913), the metropolis condenses into a rhythmic, almost deserted force field. In “Tanzschule” (1914), Kirchner captured a complex web of relationships and a crisis-ridden atmosphere. WW I marked a profound turning point. In Davos, he created “Selbstbildnis eines Kranken” (1918), a testament to deep emotional turmoil. In the Swiss mountains, he ultimately found a new beauty through simplicity and clarity, as seen in “Wettertannen” (1919). In der „Tanzschule“ (1914) fing Kirchner ein kompliziertes Beziehungsgeflecht und eine krisenhafte Stimmung ein. Der Erste Weltkrieg bedeutete einen tiefen Einschnitt. In Davos entstand das „Selbstbildnis als Kranker“ (1918), ein Dokument tiefer seelischer Zerrüttung. In der Schweizer Bergwelt fand er schließlich zu einer neuen Schönheit durch Einfachheit und Klarheit, wie in den „Wettertannen“ (1919) sichtbar wird.
