Curated by Ilaria Marotta and Andrea Baccin, Basement Art Assembly Biennial (BAAB) Issue 00 officially closed on November 29th. Featuring works by over forty artists, the biennial brought together new commissions, public interventions, site-specific installations, films, music, food, performances, gardening, and many impromptu actions. As the first underground biennial in Rome, BAAB turned Basement Roma into a shared space for experimentation and exchange. Join us tomorrow! This Saturday, November 29th from 1–2 PM, as part of the 12-hour closing program of the Basement Art Assembly Biennale @00_baab at @basementroma , we are presenting ‘The Melancholy of this Useless Afternoon, chapter 2’ (2023), by Palestinian artist Dina Mimi (@___sa3lok ). With The melancholy of this useless afternoon, Dina Mimi researches the links between the fugitive and the smuggler, their shared gestures and relationships to being seen. Chapter 2 employs a clandestine style to document the practice of bird smuggling and the part the human body plays in this act. Dina Mimi is a Palestinian visual artist and filmmaker who is based between Palestine and the Netherlands. Mimi works with experimental filmmaking and lecture performances that research the question of how and when bodies become sites of resistance. This question finds its material interest in moving images, especially found footage, that is discarded and therefore deemed invaluable. Understanding editing as a playground, Mimi plays with opacity in moving images by seeking to brush up against footage which desires to be ungraspable or is in the act of vanishing.This is a continuous attempt at non-linear narration as a way of disfiguring one’s. #dinamimi @basementroma @curamagazine

The bar was shut down in 2014. Focus Davide Balula @davide_balula • On the occasion of BAAB, Davide Balula offers a cocktail pulled from his Cocktail Series, made from wild plants locally gathered and fermented: chicory, valerian, fennel, fig. Each carries distinct properties, whether purifying, sharp, or medicinal, and together form a drink that, transformed into a cocktail with the help of a mixologist, evokes a quiet force, reflecting the exhibition’s deeper themes of persistence, renewal, and the complex ties between individual experience and the shared environments we inhabit. • Cocktail Series (Roman Wild Flower Roots), 2025
