ACTOS DE FE by @ _pecadocarnal takes place in the liturgical space of a contemporary reality expanded by digital technology, fervent with sport and obsessed with technology. Based on choreographies performed by followers in religious rites and sporting events, a compilation and remastering is carried out. This results in a combination of pre-existing gestures converted into a current format: the perspective of an NPC, a figure that could embody the image of the perfect practitioner today.
Currently, both the world of sport and motor racing seem capable of harbouring an afterlife and functioning as contemporary refuges where the drive to excel can be unleashed. The depth of athletic feats lies in the fact that they make a certain kind of genius as carnally discernible as anything can be. It is as if athletes at some point come into contact with something more. Hence the existential frustration that arises in the always bland post-match interviews or in the autobiographies of athletes. The incoherent cry of the hooligan is then a desperate prayer, an attempt to articulate the inexplicable.
On the other hand, the cult of technology and its seemingly unlimited problem-solving capacity finds its aesthetic response in the motor industry. Unlike the digital device industry, which seeks to integrate, miniaturise and conceal mechanisms, in vehicles the bonnets are opened to reveal the roaring engines. The tangible presence of technology is not hidden, and the future it represents crashes into the present, promising to save us. Car dealerships and stadium corridors are crowded with faithful followers, NPCs who do not hesitate and give themselves over to the cause. E-ternity is here and now.
