Eyre Llew - Silo (Live Session)
Some of my favourite shots from a really fun project I got to DP last year for @eyrellew , in a Grade 1 listed medieval church.
It was a really fun and challenging project to shoot; with no location recce prior to the shoot day, and not knowing how or where the band were going to position themselves, it was very much a case of ‘thinking on your feet’. I had no exact plan for how I wanted to light it, but by starting with a couple of units outside to shoot through the windows (we love some god rays 🙌), everything started to flow from there.

“We initially wanted to use anamorphic lenses throughout, but we didn't have the budget to use them for the whole production. So, working with that restriction, we decided to have it so that anything that takes place inside the Unit is shown anamorphic, because the Unit has this feeling of being in a bit of a bubble.
“It's not meant to be a prison, but it kind of is for the characters. So, through having this little ecosystem, we developed a visual motif that would help sell that idea, and then everything that was shot externally, in the real world, was shot on spherical lenses, just to give more intentionality to the shots. And that meant that the limited availability of the anamorphic lenses was put to better use.”
