✨SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY✨ I’ve added more signs to my collection and respectfully, I am obsessed! 😍 I finally got myself the Sapphic Romance arch and Thriller Avenue sign from the wonderful @the.willoughby.bookshelf - I’ve had my eye on them for ages so felt it was time to treat myself! I also received a Fantasy Avenue cut out sign and a dragon arch as part of the freebie Friday! So happy with my purchase but now I want more! 😂 Have you got any bookish bits recently? 💫BOOK REVIEW💫 AD/PR/GIFTED 🫶🏻 The Women Are Not Fine - Hope Reese ‘Wives are not seen as equal, autonomous human beings; they were considered subordinate.’ ✨ Swipe to read the synopsis ✨ ——— @sabrina_dax_pr very kindly sent me a copy of The Women Are Not Fine by @hope_reese and below is my honest review. This is different to my usual reads but 2026 is my year of branching out! This book is an account of women in a Hungarian village who were involved in mass poisonings. It delves into the circumstances of why these poisonings took place and it gets dark quickly. I think this was well written and in my opinion it sounds well researched. There were some shocking statistics that really had me on edge and really made me think. Overall, it’s a fascinating non-fiction read! 💫BOOK REVIEW TOUR - RANDOM THINGS TOURS💫 AD/PR/GIFTED 🫶🏻 The Bone Mother - Suzy Aspley ‘He had a feeling this case wasn’t going to be at all straightforward.’ ✨ Swipe to read the synopsis ✨ ——— The Bone Mother is book two in the Martha Strangeways Investigations series. I haven’t read the previous book but this reads well as a standalone. It’s an eerie story with some folklore and supernatural elements which creeped me out throughout! The setting of remote Scotland made it so atmospheric. The story is told through several POVs which at times could be hard to differentiate who was who. I enjoyed Martha’s character though, she’s a force to be reckoned with. I started to guess the twists part way through and there was times were it felt a little repetitive but I still really enjoyed the way it panned out. If you have any content triggers, I advise you to read any trigger warnings beforehand. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys an eerie read with folklore and supernatural events. 💫BOOK REVIEW TOUR - ZOOLOOSBOOKTOURS💫 AD/PR/GIFTED 🫶🏻 The Landlady - Jane E James ‘Walking for the sake of it is not for me. Unless I am in a shopping centre full of charity shops, that is, with money in my pocket to burn.’ ✨ Swipe to read the synopsis ✨ ——— This book was a ride. It had me on edge, it had me angry and it had me cringing! The setting is an old cottage on a farm in the middle of nowhere, you can’t get anymore eerie than that. Add in a meddling landlady/her family and it’s a very creepy, claustrophobic read. It’s told through two POVS throughout and you get an additional one at the end which I thought was great. There was a twist that had me shocked, I do love a twist. The chapters are short and snappy and I really enjoyed the premise. There was times I felt it was a bit cringy and unrealistic but overall, I enjoyed it. It ended on a cliffhanger which I both love but also wished I knew more 😂 If you have any content triggers, I advise you to read any trigger warnings beforehand.
