Zo, 29: “Admittedly it’s hard to pinpoint what inspires my personal style because I get some much inspiration from all over and my tastes are always fluctuating. But as of right now, I’ve been challenging myself to make my own clothes, so if I see something cool that I like, I wanna see if I can make it for myself. The top is made from a shirt I thrifted, the outer skirt layer is made from left over silk lining from a wedding dress I repurposed in a project, and there’s an inner skirt layer that I made from some fabric I had laying around. Style&Culture I G-Star x Agbobly Launch: A Celebration of Denim & Community During New York Fashion Week, New York–based designer Jacques Agbobly launched his first major collaboration denim, THE DENIM / 003, with G-Star RAW at the brand’s new SoHo store in an intimate setting. Born in Togo and raised in Chicago, Agbobly is known for blending West African visual culture with sculptural, expressive design, exploring storytelling, memory, and identity. Guests enjoyed music and light bites while experiencing the highly anticipated collaboration denim. Featured at the launch was THE DENIM / 003, designed by the New York–based brand Agbobly. It combines a low-rise curved waistband with a zip closure, an extreme flared leg, and a detachable buttoned corset, creating a striking two-in-one piece. In his speech, Agbobly spoke about the women who shaped his life—his mother and sisters—and passionately explained how his respect for women is reflected in the denim design. Before the year ends, I want to share some work I’m very proud of. For NYFW this past September, @agbobly presented their first runway collection, SS26 “PENTAGAMES”. I lead beading this denim jacket paired with beaded double layered peeled open denim jeans. About 30 hours+ of beading went into this set and I couldn’t have done it without the very talented @solleyha  @se.lsadig @vis.ualizing .As tedious as it may look, I find beading & embellishing so meditative and incredibly rewarding.
