It is an incredible honor to have been chosen as one of the 20 brands for this year’s @lvmhprize semi-finals. Over the last day since this announcement, my day has been a rollercoaster of emotions and deep reflection. Receiving this acknowledgment at this point in my career is incredibly monumental. It is undeniable that this industry presents formidable challenges and it often feels like the odds are stacked against emerging designers — especially when you are someone that looks like me. I embarked on this journey driven by a passion for creation and a deep love for craft, all while aiming to capture the essence of pure joy, and with each project I’ve had the opportunity to further hone that vision. The vision for Agbobly started long before me. Before my mother, who immigrated to America and tirelessly braided hair, even sleeping in hair shops, to pave the way for her children in pursuit of the American dream. Before my father, who traversed the streets of Lomé on a scooter with a bag brimming with second-hand clothes, selling them to ensure I received a stellar education and the most wonderful childhood imaginable. Fashion to me, transcends mere clothing; it represents an ongoing quest for something indescribable, something that yet to be discovered. The aim for Agbobly is to elevate African fashion to the world stage, and I invite each of you to join me in cultivating a journey of empowerment and artistic expression from a West African perspective. African fashion merits and deserves a prominent space on a global platform, especially when we celebrate the diverse and vibrant indigenous cultures that encompass the continent. I am grateful to every friend, collaborator, stranger, intern, freelancer, and educator who have all believed in this young dreamer from a small country with big aspirations. I am immensely thankful to my team, without whom I could not have navigated or survived this journey. Above all, I would like to thank God and my family. Where do I start? To put it in simple terms, last night was a movie. We took home the @fashiontrustus prize for Inclusivity in Fashion sponsored by @google . I am filled with gratitude and joy and I am so thankful for the community that I have been able to build. I started @agbobly at the height of the pandemic at a time when I was frustrated and did not see a future in fashion for people like me. This industry is no walk in the park (IYKYK) and sometimes trying to exist and navigate this fashion world can be so draining — but I am happy to continue the fight and will be forever grateful for the continuing love and support. Last night during my speech I dedicated this award to my mother Afi Rose, who immigrated to the U.S. in 2004 all on her own, without knowing anyone or the language. She spent nights sleeping in hair shops and would use any money from that to send me and siblings to the west side of Chicago. I wouldn’t be here today without all the sacrifices she made for me to live this dream. Thank you, mom for always engraining in us the importance of dreaming as big as we can and letting us grow up to believe that anything we wanted was attainable. I’m so grateful that you allowed me to be as creative and encouraged me to not only color outside the lines, but to do so while using every color in the crayon box. An endless thank you to the @fashiontrustus team, advisory board, and ambassadors for the endless amount of support poured into me during the course of this program. To my fellow designers, I am so inspired by each of you and was so grateful to have met and spent time these last couple days with y’all. I’m so excited to continue seeing how each of us take this industry by storm. A huge shout out to @laurabrown99 , @stjohn @farfetch and @code8beauty @tanfrance @fashiontrustus !!! @shaygipson is really the GOAT!!! And I cannot thank you enough for all that you are and did to get us here!! #fashiontrustus #fashion #emergingdesigner #designer #slay #greengingham #gingham #spring #hairstyles #blackhair #winnerwinnerchickendinner #winner #werk #lgbt #blackdesigner #blackfashion

It is with immense gratitude to announce that @blackboyknits has been selected as one of the finalists of the 2022 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund! Thank you to @CFDA and @Voguemagazine for this incredible recognition. I am beyond excited for this life changing opportunity 🙏🏿 While growing up in Togo, I frequently stayed at my grandmother’s who rented part of her home to seamstresses in order to afford rent. As a young queer child, I often felt isolated, and spent most of my time nestled under the cutting tables watching in awe as they turned brightly colored-printed textiles into unique custom-made pieces for each client.  After moving to Chicago, I began receiving the “what do you want to be when you grow up?” question that plagued so many of our youths. The recollection of hiding under the tables at my grandmother’s became a memory I always traveled back to. The  unequivocal response was always “Fashion Designer”. Luckily, the adults in my life listened and nurtured my aspirations which eventually led me to pursue fashion. In undergrad I met a wonderful professor, @annieleelarson who saw something in me and organized the crowdfunding that pioneered the launch of @BlackBoyKnits . This achievement is a testament to the impact of great educators who go above and beyond for their students. I am forever indebted to your mentorship and hope you know how much you mean to me. BBK was founded within community and as it expands it is my hope that I continue to pay it forward. I also want to thank @rinipaloma , @_.sunflxwer , @dina_asabea , @kamaladisa , @kaylajv and @tenderspace who’ve all played a huge role in this process! Lastly, I want to give a special thank you to @christopherjohnrogers for the heartfelt letter of recommendation. You’ve continued to be a guidance and inspiration to me and having your support in this way means so much. Shout out to all the other amazing finalists. I look forward to this journey and the community we’re going to build. 🧚🏿‍♂️🌈🤎🎯🌸🙏🏿🥹✨ #cvff 📷: @nateshuls

Jacques Agbobly, 2026 Vilcek Prizewinner for Creative Promise in Fashion & Design, is the founder & creative director of @Agbobly , a fashion brand that creates space for minority narratives in American fashion. Born in Lomé, Togo, and now based in Brooklyn, Jacques uses fashion to tell the story of where they come from and who they are becoming. “That duality has become the foundation of my work, which exists in conversation between African traditions and Western techniques. I see the world through multiple lenses, and that allows me to tell stories in my collections that resonate with people across cultures.” Learn more about Jacques with the link in bio!

Allow us to introduce you to Jacques Agbobly, the Togo-born designer turning personal history into rich knitwear. “I want my pieces to invite the world to really take up space and showcase who they are on the inside,” he says. From watching seamstresses work out of his grandmother’s home in Togo to navigating life between West Africa and Chicago, those early memories now show up in his saturated color palettes, graphic knits, and collections rooted in migration and identity. Tap the link in bio to learn more about his creative process, how he’s building his brand from Black Boy Knits to Agbobly, and how the industry can still do better by designers of color. It is with immense gratitude and joy that I announce that I am a recipient of the 2026 Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Fashion & Design. The Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise honors immigrant professionals who have demonstrated exceptional early-career achievement, and includes a $50,000 cash prize to support the continued growth of their work. To be recognized in this way, as an immigrant designer, is both humbling and deeply affirming. This recognition feels profoundly personal. I am here because of an immigrant woman — my mother — who came to the United States in the early 2000s on her own, carrying little more than determination and hope. She worked long days and often slept in hair shops, braiding hair tirelessly to save enough money to bring me and my brothers to America. I watched her hands move with quiet focus and discipline, turning labor into survival, care into possibility. That was my first exposure to craft. That was my first lesson in what it means to create something meaningful with what you have. Those memories live inside my work. They shape how I think about materials, about touch, about repetition, and about dignity. Fashion, for me, has always been a language, a way to honor where I come from, to carry memory forward, and to make space for stories that are often overlooked. At a time when many immigrant families are living with fear, uncertainty, and the threat of separation, this honor carries even more weight. It is a reminder that immigrant lives are not temporary, invisible, or disposable. That our labor, creativity, and imagination are deeply woven into the fabric of this country. That the sacrifices made behind closed doors, in kitchens, salons, factories, and homes, matter. I am deeply grateful to the @vilcekfoundation for uplifting immigrant voices and recognizing the cultural contributions we continue to make across the arts and sciences. This prize is not just a celebration of my work, but a reflection of my family, my community, and everyone who has ever carried their home within them while building a life elsewhere. Look 1/20 · Pentagames, SS26 Yellow like sunlight spilling into a new world.
Optimistic, joyful, daring to take up space—the color encourages boldness, much like the way we tell children to stretch their limbs, raise their voices, and claim their place. Cedric holds a red butterfly in his hand, a fleeting symbol of life, energy, and transformation—reminding us that moments of beauty and joy are delicate, yet powerful. When you first step into life, grief and challenge may still be unknown, but joy exists in balance with what we will inevitably experience. This look holds those emotions together, playful yet grounded, exuberant yet measured. Worn by @sanveecedric
Corset-back button-down with double collar, paired with cargo trousers with exaggerated straps. This lookbook was photographed live during our show on September 16, 2025. Cedric, our Agbobly muse, opened my first runway show with this look and also created the soundtrack for the show—bringing energy, rhythm, and life to the collection. The corset-back detail frames the body while the exaggerated cargo straps add motion and freedom, embodying the tension between structure and play that runs through the entire Pentagames collection. For Salhadine, always. Powered by @Nike Credits

Look 2/20 · Pentagames, SS26 Green like a childhood “go” signal.
Like a green light calling you forward, this color invites movement, curiosity, and play. Safe, vibrant, and full of possibility, it carries the energy of running free and exploring without worry. Worn by @slamin.e Double-layered peeled open trousers paired with green silk satin organza button-down with dyed-to-match buttons in our signature Togo Green. This lookbook was photographed live during our show on September 16, 2025. The soft shine of the silk organza and the playful layering of the trousers give the outfit motion and ease, turning a simple suit of separates into a moment of freedom and energy—like childhood adventures captured in fabric. Look 3/20 — Pentagames, SS26 Adventure is in the details. Straps to snap, epaulettes to shift, pleats to swing—this look invites movement and imagination. One foot planted on a black star, the outfit balances playfulness and structure, letting you explore form in every step. Worn by @myasadewest
Snap-button military and cowboy-inspired shirt with epaulettes and hanging strap, styled in versatile ways, paired with twill pencil skirt with pleated back. This lookbook was photographed live during our show on September 16, 2025. Structured pieces meet playful versatility here: the straps and epaulettes can be worn multiple ways, while the pleated skirt adds motion and balance, making this outfit equal parts adventurous and refined. Look 4/20 — Pentagames, SS26 Chartreuse like green apples and sunny afternoons.
As kids, our uniforms kept us in line, but after school, we ran, jumped, and played. Getting messy, laughing, and taking up space. This look carries that energy: simple, bright, and unapologetically playful. Worn by @mr.oparr
Silk satin organza button-down with shorts. This lookbook was photographed live during our show on September 16, 2025. The light, airy silhouette moves with ease, while the chartreuse color bursts like a memory of childhood mischief—reminding us that even in simplicity, there’s joy, color, and room to play.
