I have always loved @maydayminneapolis , but never realized how beautiful the post parade Tree of Life Ceremony in Powderhorn Park is until I saw it for the first time today. Thanks for the tip @eostrelynn đŸ™đŸ» This was the hardest, longest winter Minneapolis has ever experienced. Thanks to our unhinged lunatic “President” sending his pardoned J6 rejects who became ICE to murder innocent people in our streets for standing up for their neighbors and arrest and deport American citizens because of the color of their skin, we are all still grieving as a community. Mpls represents the best of America and Donald Trump and his racist goons are the worst. This was so needed, especially on a gorgeous spring day. Highly recommend attending next year or getting involved as a volunteer. 🌾🌾🌾 From MayDayMpls.org: MayDay: Collaborative Civic Celebration Art Every year, beginning in February with community meetings, and culminating on the first Sunday in May, we wrestle with big issues and big ideas through community dialogue, art-making and play. Each year Mayday needs and invites many people to work together, crafting relationships that weave our community together in surreptitious ways. Mayday has grown into an essential community ritual for holding pain and releasing possibility and pure joy. It sometimes demands deep Introspection and Silence, sometimes Big Ruckus. It is both difficult and really super fun! From @mprnews : “Organizers balanced Mayday’s celebratory hallmarks — like the raucous Southside Battletrain and resplendent sun flotilla — with acknowledging the trauma and grief many south Minneapolis neighbors say they are feeling as a result of the immigration enforcement surge over the winter. The Tree of Life Ceremony included a tribute to Renee Good, Alex Pretti and others lost to state violence, as well as a transformative scene where a family’s cocoon of grief following an ICE raid is transformed into a butterfly. The festival’s finale featured the raising of the majestic Tree of Life puppet, surrounded by dozens of twirling fabric monarch butterflies, while local street band Brass Solidarity played a cover of the O’Jay’s “Love Train.” 🩋🩋🩋

The Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota is the most pristine and beautiful natural place I’ve experienced in my lifetime. People travel from around the globe to explore the millions of acres of interconnected lakes and forests via canoe. Without Google Maps or any internet. I have not been brave enough to do the full experience, but love staying at our friends’ magical resort @poplarhausmn on an entry lake into the Boundary Waters. We went boating at night once while listening to Air’s “Moon Safari” and the stars were so bright and abundant, I felt like I was floating in outer space. Being there makes me appreciate and connect with nature in a whole new way, in every season. It’s my happy place, and millions of other nature enthusiasts feel the same. And yet today, Republicans voted to allow a Chilean company to mine this area. It is sickening and shameful how greedy and soulless these people have become. Please stop letting them make our lives worse in every way. Not sure where they plan to live when our planet is completely destroyed and sold for parts to the highest bidder. There is no Planet B. 🌎 #BoundaryWaters #RepublicansAreTheProblem #ThereIsNoPlanetB

Kaleidoscope of Love by artist @luttergardella at Powderhorn Park this afternoon. More than 1,000 neighbors gathered to create this spectacular community art piece, and we had joyful music from @brasssolidarity and the @singingresistancetc . This is community. This is #Minneapolis. 💜🩋💜 This inspiring human-powered mosaic was documented from above by artist-managed drones, courtesy of Big Animal Productions. The unique gathering of participants and audience members offered an opportunity for neighbors from the region to connect, to heal and to persist with pride, strength and dignity as a community. The Kaleidoscope of Love documentation sent a powerful message to the rest of the nation—and the world—that Minnesotans value beauty, compassion and communal care, and reject the continuing federal atrocities that have rendered lasting harm to our communities. This celebration of compassion—a collaboration of community members led by Big Animal Productions—represents the community’s resilience and the power of public art to sustain attention on what matters most in this moment: The pursuit of justice is far from over. According to the project’s artistic director, Christopher Lutter-Gardella, “This is a love poem to our community. Minnesotans value beauty, compassion and communal care, and reject the continuing federal atrocities that have rendered lasting harm. This event is intended to honor our resilience and sustain our ability to love and protect our neighbors.” As artists, in this moment, we propose communal artmaking as an antidote to hate and the fear it engenders. Grateful to everyone who became a vibrant “brushstroke” in this massive mosaic. Let us show strength through beauty and amplify the call for an end to this madness, demanding justice for those who have been harmed, disappeared and murdered. We will persist with dignity, during this extraordinarily difficult time for our community and our nation.

We waited more than a decade for Glamorama to return, and everyone who was there knows it was worth the wait. @grantwcreative ’s production was spectacular from start to finish and we heard some of the most classic house songs ever created by @crystalwaters @cecepeniston and Robyn S that had everyone dancing in the aisles of the State Theater. And best of all, we raised money for @childrenscancer and heard inspiring stories from some very brave kids who were involved with the production and in attendance. đŸ€© Thank you to @grantwcreative @childrenscancer @carrie_the_moment - let’s do it again next year. đŸ€© Also thanks to my glam squad @jpratt701 @the701salon for my hair and @luxglomn for the most perfect spray tan. đŸ™đŸ»

Pretty sure this is the best my hair has ever looked and felt. Finally found the right team and products I love: 💈Balayage blonde highlights by @anastasia_at_haus who works out of the @haussalon in NE Minneapolis -I have gotten highlights from many stylists over the last 25 years and hers are by far my favorite. Blondes really do have more fun. 💈Haircuts by @jpratt701 at @the701salon -she is the best stylist I’ve found for bobs and short hair..pure magic. I don’t even blow dry my hair..her cuts are so good my hair just air dries in a perfect bob. 💈Products by local women owned @odelebeauty . I have been using and loving the Smoothing Shampoo + Conditioner, Hair Oil for shine and Leave In Conditioner to smooth any frizzies. You can find them at Target, Walgreens, CVS and Ulta. Highly recommend trying them out. Between getting my hair done, nails by @tluxenails , refresh at @ovmeofficial and spray tan by @luxglomn this week, I am ready for Glamorama this Friday, May 15th at the State Theater to benefit @childrenscancer . Can’t wait. đŸ€©đŸȘ©đŸ’ƒđŸŒ

In between all the fashion shows and sniffing spring flowers (plus working 4 days a week at Dugo, getting all my PR clients in the news and trying to see my hubby and son whenever possible,) I found myself sipping mint juleps at beautiful @forepaughs with the fashion fam on a lovely afternoon at the 8th Annual Kentucky Derby Party. @retroviolette and I were lucky enough to wear hats by the incredible Twin Cities Milliner @angelinealicemillinery and Heather even won the Best Hat contest, which was well deserved in a very competitive category. Everyone looked gorgeous. Loved seeing photos of one of @angelinealicemillinery ’s hats on @melissajoanhart at the actual Kentucky Derby w @danicamckellar -Clarissa/Sabrina and Winnie all grown up and looking fierce in their Derby ensembles..I grew up watching these ladies on TV đŸ„č Can’t wait for next year..making this an annual tradition. Or maybe we need to take a field trip to Kentucky for the real thing. Also loved rocking my new 🐚 necklace by @almamiampls @kimberlyjurekvalanzasca who has a few more incredible shell pieces at @thefittingroommpls at @50thandfrance . đŸ€©đŸ’–đŸ‘’đŸ‡đŸŒč

Tulips are poppin at the cemetery is a sentence I never thought I’d say
but they are, and you should go see them because it’s a beautiful display at Lakewood Cemetery. Lyndale Park and the Peace Garden near Lake Harriet are also gorgeous right now. This spring is so pretty it almost makes up for winter. Almost. Seasons are good for the soul. đŸŒžđŸŒ·đŸŒžđŸŒ·đŸŒž
