We are extremely proud of our Young Ensemble company after a successful first performance to a sold-out audience last night! @vickymoran___ has directed this black-mirror-like dystopian play about a world in which young people put their elders on trial for their climate crimes. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it will leave you with plenty to chat about in the bar. The Young Ensemble is a company of 19–25-year-olds with no formal training or representation. The Trials by Dawn King | 28-30 Aug |Southwark Playhouse | Young Ensemble Company 2025 I fell in love with this play back in 2022 when I helped out on the casting for the Donmar production, and I was so excited when @dawnkingwrites and the Southwark Playhouse team said I could direct it. For the past 5 months, I’ve been meeting weekly with a group of 12 brilliant young actors to bring this play to life. None of them went to drama school, and for many this will be their debut. In just a few days, they will have performed 4 shows to over 800 people on a main stage in London. One show down and I am feeling like one proud director. Watching them smashing it up there this evening in front of a packed out audience was more than magical.
