I'm over the moon, because the feature film of my play Foxfinder will be shooting this summer! 🦊
A heartstoppingly incredible cast with @tessamaethompson , @ebonmossbachrach , & Owen Cooper (more talents to be announced!)
I can't wait for brilliant director and co-writer @aoifemmcardle to bring this to life. It's going to be EPIC. 🔥
Kamilla Hodøl & Emilie Jouffroy are producing for @elationpicturesltd , with Kitty Kaletsky for @rabbit.track.pictures . These three have been with me on this since we started development in 2017. Their commitment and passion has been incredible. ❤️
Also co-producing are @trimafilm and @komplizenfilm
I'm incredibly grateful for the support in sales and financing from @film4@britishfilminstitute@logicalpicturesgroup@filmcornerstone WME and German funding from German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), the Bavarian fund FFF Bayern and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg
Kitty said “Foxfinder’s searing and absurdist examination of tyranny, prejudice and scape-goating feels more timely with every week that goes by and the play and film’s themes will resonate with audiences all around the world,”
Let's go find some foxes...

Delighted to be running a masterclass @theatre503 as part of their spring writers programme, after someone pointed out about one of my works in progress 'You've got lots of plot but no story. You don't know what this is about!' They were dead right.
This is one of the most important skills a writer needs; understanding what your play is about, finding the story, and making sure all the parts of your play are working to deliver that story.
The workshop is online, so you can join us wherever you are. For playwrights (and screenwriters) with works in progress.
More info below!
In this masterclass for writers with a play in progress, Dawn King will lead a deep dive into story. What’s your play really about, and how does the meaning of your play harmonise with the plot and characters? What do you do if your plot is controlling your play too much, and the meaning feels lacking? Pulling out your story and understanding how to work it into every element of your play is an essential skill that can change a good play into a great one. You can expect to come away with new ideas about how to take your play forward, and new methods to use on future projects.
Date: Monday 16 March 2026
Time: 7pm – 9:30pm
Running time of workshop: 2.5 hours – delivered online. Maximum class sizes are 16. A portion of spaces have been reserved for Share the Drama places.
Thanks to our Share The Drama scheme, we want to make sure those of you who are struggling in the current climate can still take part in our Writers Programme. If you would like to book a Share The Drama bursary for the Writer’s Programme, please call our box office on 02079787040.
Please note, online sale will close at 5pm the day of the Masterclass.
A few weeks ago I met the incredible Joanna Bowman, who'll be directing the Scottish premiere of The Trials @trontheatre Glasgow from 6-14th March.
Since the play first premiered @duesseldorfer.schauspielhaus in 2022 and had UK premiere @donmarwarehouse it has had main stage productions @marlowetheatre in 2023, @nottmplayhouse in 2024 and with @swkplayparticipate in 2025. The are now many young people all around the world who have been through a production process on this play... I don't know what exactly that's doing to the world, but I think it's something good. 🐣
One day this play will be irrelavant because we'll have found our way out of the climate emergency 🌱 but until then I'm thrilled that another young cast are bringing The Trials to a new audience under the guidance of brilliant Joanna.

I’m going to run a creative intention setting and community connection session for writers on Thurs 8th Jan online from 7 - 8.30. Together we’ll make some plans, set some specific goals for projects and share strategies for tackling obstacles so that our creative fires can burn bright and bring some light to that big old darkness in 2026! I’ll be running it on zoom, for free. If you want to join please send me a PM so I can send you the zoom link.
The session is for and about you, not me, but I'll also make a bit of time to answer a few questions. For part of the time we'll all be together, and for other parts, you'll be in breakout rooms in small groups. When you join the session, please put your full name and pronoun and if possible, have your camera turned on. To keep our container secure, anyone whose name I don't recognise, and who has their camera switched off will be removed. I will limit the session numbers to what feels managable. During the session I will be using the words 'writers' and 'writing', but any kind of creative at any stage is welcome. Tell your friends! 🌞
I'm looking back to last month's incredible Belgian premiere of Foxfinder @theatredepochebruxelles . What a mesmeric, visual and powerful production, directed by @julieanne.roth
I fell in love with this gorgeous theatre, surrounded by trees and with a log fire in the bar.
RTBF.be said
"At the Théâtre de Poche in Brussels, in the darkness of the Bois de la Cambre, a somber fable unfolds: a hunt for an imaginary threat. "Foxfinder" plunges us into a storm-ravaged England, where paranoia, control, and superstition push the audience to the edge between truth and manipulation."
The Queen of Belgium herself came to see the show (final image!)
I am a very lucky playwright. Bravo, and thank you to the entire team and to @wyzmaninbrussels for looking after me, (and thank you also to the Maison Antoine Vitez for supporting the translation.)

🌍 "Community is what we need to survive" 🌍
📖 Last night our Gateways programme kicked off with our Storytelling panel, a fascinating discussion about using art to talk about the world and how we can better connect to the issues of climate.
🎭 Feimatta Conteh, Dawn King, Farah Ali and Scenes from the Climate Era writer David Finnigan all agree on one thing: stories are powerful and theatre gives us a space in which to figure out what we want to do next.
📢 It's your last chance to make use of our discount code SFTCEPREV for performances of Scenes from the Climate Era TONIGHT and TOMORROW, and don't miss the rest of our Gateways programme (link in bio)

I want to say as little as possible about this text; I want you to discover it for yourselves. Just say that Dawn King wrote Foxfinder in 2010, and apparently the theme of government control through fear and misinformation seems more relevant than ever. Long live great authors, long live theater, and long live foxes.
