“Reminice” @variablehawaii x @slappradio photoshoot Fashion, clothes, and antiques have always interested me since I was six when my father woke me up at 4 AM on the weekends to make it to the KAM swap meet near Pearlridge. We’d get there before sunrise and use flashlights to check what people were selling on their tarps filled with tools, clothes & toys, my favorite. @aea4m & @tqdance of “Variable Hawaii” brings the memories back with refinement. So, I’m locked in the stairwell five minutes before I have to host the NMG Network (@nmgnetwork ) Client appreciation event at BUHO Waikiki (@buhocantina ) and the “Hana Hou! Magazine” (@hanahoumag ) Tripple cover reveal. How did I get here? Before hosting, I decided to go into the stairwell for vocal warm-ups. I went inside, did my thing, took a deep breath, felt confident, and reached for the door handle. It didn’t budge; I was locked in. I called Taylor (@taykondo ), the producer at NMG and event organizer; I guided her to my location over the phone until I saw her through the door’s small window. Another deep breath, and the rest, they say, is history… Thanks to @lorena.artstudio ♥️ for capturing these moments, Taylor for getting me out of the stairwell, and @variablehawaii for styling me an Aloha shirt made from a vintage Kimono.

So, on Saturday, October 20th, I hosted the NMG Network (@nmgnetwork ) & Lei Magazine’s (@leiculture ) Annual "Lei Pride Pool Party” at the ʻAlohilani Resort (@alohilaniresort ) in Waikīkī, Oʻahu. Thanks to my homegirl Taylor (@taykondo ), producer at NMG Network, for making it happen. It was a vibe—an incredible venue, music that hit just right, and a community of good energy. Mahalo to @future.of.cool for keeping us feeling fresh with their minty products, @aea4m and @tqdancer from @variablehawaii for styling me up, and my lady @lorena__gheorghe for capturing the moments. I’ll share a little about myself. I grew up with family members who are gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer. To me, they were always just my family—full of light and always introducing me to good music. Through their ups and downs, they taught me about strength and compassion, and I’m grateful to them every day. So, cheers to them and you as I close this entry in my visual journal. Until next time.
