One of many rewriting the story of houselessness in Hawai‘i. Four dogs. A Job. No addictions. No complaints. She lives under a bridge—but holds her head high. This is Mariko’s story.

We pulled up to the Manini Collective (@maninicollective ) show “calabash” and caught up with founder Johnny Macas-Freire at @kaiao_space in Chinatown, Honolulu.
manini GALLERY (est. 2022) supports Hawaiʻi-based artists through pop-up exhibitions, gallery takeovers, and community programs in collaboration with local nonprofits, businesses, and alternative spaces. Their work has been featured at venues including Aloha Stadium, Hawaiʻi Theatre Center, and Hawaiʻi State Art Museum, with works acquired into the Hawaiʻi State Art in Public Places Collection.
Jini Ho founded Green Times Matcha (@greentimes.matcha ) at 17. 🍵
She worked as a barista in Hawai‘i, explored matcha shops throughout Japan, and brought that inspiration back home to create her own matcha experience rooted in community.
Now she pops up at @fishcakehawaii every Thursday from 11am–3pm while balancing college, building community, and growing her vision one cup at a time.

Usually, I’m telling other people’s stories. This time, it’s mine and my family’s.
The day after filming this,
my father, George Westbrook, passed away. 🕊️
I met Eddie (@tatysjuarez ) on Melrose & Fairfax in Hollywood, California, serving authentic Mexican food from his family-run truck.
I asked if he had any #vegan options—he made me a cauliflower burrito that was 🔥.
But what stayed with me wasn’t just the food.
It was our conversation about #ICE… and how it’s been affecting his business, his family, and his ability to keep going.
Eddie runs this truck with his wife to support their two daughters.
Same food. Same spot. But things aren’t the same.
Stories like his deserve to be seen.
