Applications deadline extended to May 25th!!! TRYST 2026 — Call for Participants
Torrance Art Museum is proud to announce the 4th edition of TRYST, the world’s largest international art fair dedicated exclusively to artist-run spaces, collectives, and independent organizations. Individual artists are not eligible to apply.
More than a conventional art fair, TRYST is a global gathering centered on international exchange among grassroots, artist-led initiatives.
As an alternative to traditional commercial art fairs, TRYST prioritizes collaboration, experimentation, and cultural dialogue over market-driven models.
The fair introduces participating organizations to new Los Angeles audiences, fosters networking among participants, and encourages ongoing international exchange.

Free to apply and free to participate.

Great memory from @tryst.la last month when I collaborated with the talented and effervescent @stephanie_sherwood_art on this piece of art. We had so much fun. We were dismantling here and taking home our own efforts. But the memory of the work, and the fun I had with Stephanie lives on. #tryst was sponsored by the @torranceartmuseum . Stephanie and I were in the @durdenandray booth, No. 10, which was displaying Test Patterns. #testpatterns #torranceartmuseum #collaboaration #losangelesart #durdenandray #artfair #internationalartfair
Recap! Earlier this month, TAAC team members bianca goyette, Lauren Dana Smith, Brian Barreto and Sid Barrett took the works of 14 of our artists to the TRYST Alternative Art Fair, produced by the Torrance Art Museum. Now in its 3rd year, TRYST is an international art fair for artist-run-spaces and collectives as well as an international gathering to address the needs and future of global exchange for artist-run spaces, collectives and organizations. In fact, there are only 5 art fairs like this globally in Denmark, Sweden, Athens and Mexico City.
Beautifully curated by TAAC’s Vice Chair, bianca goyette, TAAC shared works by Robyn A. Frank, Morgan Barnard, Lana Scholtz, Aleya Hoerlein, Lauren Dana Smith, Brian Barreto, Henri Preiss, Jess Merritt, Chris Willcox, Beedallo, Josh Tafoya, Lynette O’Kane, Agnieszka Gasparska and Marianne Hall with the LA art community. The fair was a huge success. Not only did we introduce abstract art in Northern NM to thousands of fair visitors throughout the weekend, but we made many new friendships and meaningful connections with kindred arts organizations, collectives and galleries that we hope will take root into fruitful future collaborations. We may have snuck a trip to the beach in there too!
Alongside TRYST was the fair NOMAD for individual artists from Southern California. We encourage all of you to check out the good work of the folks at Torrance Art Museum!
TAAC was the ONLY organization from New Mexico represented at the fair! We did a lot of chatting and repping for our community. We are so proud of all of you and everything we have accomplished as an organization over the last few years. As TAAC grows and we retell a more inclusive story of abstract art in New Mexico, we look forward to opportunities like this one to reach more people and make more connections.

From a studio visit and one conversation @emilysilverstudio built this new fab frame for ‘Hold On’. This showstopper piece with new frame exhibited for the first time last week at @tryst.la & We already miss it!
This artwork message is exactly what we needed to hear.
From Emily: A little mantra l’ve been repeating to myself, Hold On. Hold on during the storm, to human rights, to my belief systems, to my values, to the fight that’s burning inside me.. hold on to my friends, students, communities, hold on together so maybe just maybe we will weather this storm, pick up the pieces and be able to find each other again. Hold On, Resist.🙌🏼

Tryst 2025, Torrance, CA 🇱🇷 Booth #32 Artemia
During the Tryst exhibition, the California Torrance Art Museum (TAM) hosted a wide range of events designed to encourage exchange among international artists.
The Tryst exhibition brought together over 150 artists across 68 teams, while the Nomad exhibition featured works by 175 artists — filling the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th floors of the Del Amo Crossing with a festive and vibrant atmosphere. The exhibitions showcased not only painting, but also media art and installations in diverse styles.
It was a valuable opportunity to connect with international artists and gallery professionals, and to experience freely expressed, thought-provoking installation works up close.
California Torrance Art Museum(TAM)
