Mark Acetelli (@mark_acetelli ) is a painter who lives and works in Los Angeles.
Raised by a mother who was a painter, he grew up surrounded by creativity and explored several artistic paths, including musician and hairstylist, before finding his true passion in painting.
His work has emotional depth and a tactile quality, which he achieves using palette knives, rags, and even his hands. Acetelli describes his paintings as “simple expressions of complex thoughts”… they are even more beautiful in person.
His work has been widely exhibited and is held in private and corporate collections around the world. He is currently showing in LA at @artplexgallery and @d2art . He also has a show in Korea at @gallerychang .
If you live in LA, he sometimes does studio visits at his amazing Bendix building (@bendixbuilding )art studio downtown, which are absolutely spectacular! GO!
Here’s a look inside the studio where I’ve been working on this new series of ethereal clouds, sky and openness. I will be debuting two new works in a show with @d2artla in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

New series coming together, this is one of the latest pieces I finished. Exploring how clouds are similar to the human experience. Moment by moment we are changing, aging moving, growing and evolving. If you watch a cloud they are doing to same and then they disappear.
Impermanence, it reminds me to stay in the moment and not suffer the weight of a day that hasn’t arrived yet.

Weekly recap of works I’ve been working on. New series, expanding , exploring and pushing forward, always moving in a direction of a road less traveled. These clouds are a result of trying something different and seeing what happens. No expectations, just exploration to a new view. I hope you enjoy, more to come. Thank you.

This is a new work of exploring different themes in nature, different techniques different paint applications.I made this one with pigments rubbed into the surface of the canvas with my fingers, hands rags multiple layers with its history peeking through the sides. I hope you enjoy and I think this coming summer we could all use a little bit more rain to fill the well.
60x48” oil and pigment on canvas.

Here’s a little sneak peek into the daily studio grind. The mess, the triumphs the failures and the process of bringing nothing into something and the potential to be experienced and enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone that helps support me and my work, it’s a great honor and privilege to be able to do what I love. Thank you!

Flow 96x72” oil on canvas.
We can fall like rain and become puddles on the ground, and rise again to be apart of clouds of light and strength.

Just when I thought the painting was finished, I showed it at my open studio this past Saturday and there was an annoying feeling, that it wasn’t fully realized, so today I came in and totally dismantled the structure to let it fall apart then use the pieces as the foundation for something that is more in tune with what I’m currently feeling at the moment. I took the painting to a place of no destination, just a feeling and a chance to see where this all could go.
