NYJO returns to Love Supreme Festival this July! Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’s birth with a fresh look at his iconic bebop classics. NYJO's Emerging Professional Musicians honour this moment with a special nine-piece band, debuting fresh new arrangements from lead trumpet NYJO's own Tom Stringer alongside historic repertoire from the iconic 1957 album Birth of the Cool. Band leader @tom.stringer_ says : "This project is a really exciting opportunity to honour the legacy and music of one of the most important figures in Jazz still to this day. Miles Davis was a pioneer and a stronghand in developing foundations that Jazz across the globe still stands on." 30/04/2026 The Breen/Jackson Big Band Lauren Breen and Emma Jackson have joined forces to create an up-and-coming big band, featuring the best of London’s young jazz scene. Jackson and Breen are both alto saxophonists who met whilst studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Although they both have a shared love for Hard Bop and modern jazz, they have very unique sounds and personalities to their playing. Having played in big bands together for years, and each having individual experiences as bandleaders, they are excited to showcase their original arrangements and compositions, with contributions from the band. Primarily influenced by the work of Jackie Mclean, Kenny Garrett, and Cannonball Adderly, Jack aims to combine aspects of this tradition with his own distinctive sound, supported by some of London’s most exciting young musicians.
