After April 26, Filipino chefs in Vancouver quickly mobilized. They got to work—cooking for families who were grieving, for neighbours who didn’t know what else to do but show up with food. 60 days later, this essential service is still needed. 🚗 The Vancouver Filipino Chef Meal Train is looking for volunteer drivers to help deliver meals across the Lower Mainland. A huge moment for one of our own 👏 Chef TJ Conwi, Education Co-Chair of Chefs’ Table Society of BC, has been named “Chef with Heart” at the @vancouvermagazine Restaurant Awards, and if you know his work, this one hits deep. Named in memory of Claudio Ranallo, the award honours chefs who show up for their communities with generosity, humility, and heart, often behind the scenes. In the wake of the Lapu Lapu Day Festival tragedy in 2025, TJ did exactly that—stepping in without hesitation to cook for families in need. It’s the same spirit he brings to everything he does, from @reroot.kitchen and LunchLAB to his work at @onovancouver . This is what leadership in our industry looks like. We’re incredibly proud to have TJ helping shape the next generation of chefs in BC. Massive congratulations, TJ—this is so, so well deserved! 👏

Thank you to all of our supporters who has hired us not just because our food is delicious! But also so that they can help us contribute to the community. By serving up 1500 meals every single week to the vulnerable communities of the Downtown Eastside and inner city. By helping us, we are able to help divert food waste from the landfill while being able to give almost 500,000 meals since 2020.! Such an inspiring trip to Whitehorse Yukon! Thank you Yukon first nation education directorate @yfned_media for having us! So amazing to be able to share our learnings from starting a school meal program in the West End of Vancouver and being able to share it to our Indigenous neighbours up north. What a privilege to be able to listen to @angela_sterritt and @lenpierreconsulting_ and learn about how we can contribute by knowing our role in reconciliation and being able to inspire the next generation to do the same . We got to cook Bison and Arctic Char Adobo and our famous Kale Salad Bar with Indigenous educators and was able to share and have a conversation during our presentation! Màhsi’ choo!
