Hi there! It’s been a minute. I thought I should say hello and let you know what I’m up to. If you’re new around here, welcome! My name is Nada (Ned-uh) Jones. I’m 58, the founder of Liberty Road, a mother of three, and very soon to be an empty nester. I am also a wife, daughter, sister, and friend—why do those titles always get left out? I started a Substack—it’s a brand new newsletter platform that’s sure to catch on. 😏 I want to talk about, share, and process what it means to launch and grow a business at my age. We keep saying, it’s not too late, let me see if I can prove it. Check it out if you’re doing the same, have an idea that’s brewing, or just curious. And please drop a hello. I would love to meet you. Link in bio if you’re curious. Photo: @kianascottphoto

You know that day after Christmas feeling, the one that's equal parts glad it's over (if you're the one in charge anyway), and sad it's gone? That's how these last few weeks since the summit have felt. Glad to not be in the pre-event chaos, and sorry that the meaningful, uplifting, and connected moment has passed. Even when I’m not the one running the show, I feel this way about attending events, retreats, and workshops, and I suspect you do as well. "That was great, but now what?" is the general sentiment after a few days or weeks pass. "How do we deliver the summit, with all its curated experts, resources, and brands on a regular basis? How do we capture the feelings of possibility, connection, and the, ‘Now THIS is the midlife I was looking for’ when you need it?" THESE are the questions that keep me up at night. So while we tinker away at LR HQ, considering ways to deliver all the above to you, I want to share these images as a reminder of the magic that was created at the summit. It was… well, golden. And, a HUGE thanks to the experts and thought leaders that helped to expand and elevate our day. We are better because of you! Calling all INSIDERS, save the date! I find myself reluctantly counting down the weeks until my not-so-baby boy graduates from high school and heads off to college. This sobering season is full of “ands.” I am thrilled that he is moving into his bright future, and I want to freeze the present moment. I look forward to cooking with onions, parsley, basil, and cilantro with no protest, and I can’t imagine him not sitting across from me at the dinner table. I am excited for the freedom my husband and I will discover, and concerned about the impending silence. What I have learned from my friend and author, Shari Dunbar, is that milestones deserve intentional time to pause, reflect, and honor what has happened and what is about to happen — they deserve a ceremony. Shari has penned a guide to walk us through such moments. The Book of Modern Ceremony reads like a cookbook, filled with recipes for various significant junctures in life and the ingredients needed to make meaning of each. I have invited Shari to join us for an INSIDERS Workshop on April 21 at 9:30 am PST via Zoom. Tune in to learn how this Stanford graduate and marketing professional came to value and teach the power of ceremony. One of my favorite things about Shari is that she takes something that can feel a bit woo-woo and provides a purposeful and meaningful foundation for why ceremonies are not only important, but have been relied on across all civilizations for thousands of years. Shari will walk us through a short ceremony, “Connecting to the wisdom of the heart,” and share ideas for creating our own ceremonies for Mothers of Graduates and Child Leaving Home. Whether they are heading to summer camp, college, or even marriage — she’s got us covered for the spring and summer season ahead. Please check your emails, INSIDERS, a Zoom link has been sent to your inbox.

My pre-order just came in and I dropped everything to peruse. I love me some @emmagrede and can’t wait to dig in. SIDE NOTE: If you don’t already listen, check out her podcast @aspirewithemmagrede , especially if you’re building a venture, or want to be. Back to the book. It’s written in four parts: Vision, Managing Emotions, Old Thoughts, and Action. A few of the chapters I’m most excited for: Yearly Process Fear Money Building a Brand & Business Leadership My Basic Rules for Success I may read out of order because I’m eager to address the particular life and business stage I find myself in. At the end of this summer I will officially be an empty-nester (or whatever other phrase we’re supposed to be using these days), and want to be intentional about what’s next for me and the business as I dive headfirst into a new chapter of life. Thanks in advance, Emma! I’m looking forward to starting with myself!
