✨Pinewood students shine (once again) at the Tech Challenge! ✨ A record-breaking 11 teams from Pinewood took part in this weekend’s event–facing off against 300+ teams–and three teams came home with top awards! Our students showed incredible dedication, courage, and collaboration throughout the four-month-long preparation process leading up to the annual design-engineering competition, and we couldn’t be more proud.
🌬This year’s theme was “Survive the Storm” and challenged teams to use their engineering skills to build a structure that protects vulnerable objects from extreme winds.
🏆 Congratulations to our top award winners!
🐅 BEST OVERALL • The Tech Tigers (7th Grade): This Upper Campus team, consisting of Tech Challenge veterans, created an absolutely brilliant device!
🛡ENGINEERING PROCESS AWARD • The Spartans (6th Grade): This team, from our Thursday club, succeeded on all three fan runs and demonstrated exceptional resilience leading up to the event.
🐰 DEVICE PERFORMANCE AWARD • The Sea Bunnies (6th Grade): This team, which came together outside of the club, designed an impressive solution to the problem.
The future of #dtsj’s Plaza de Cesar Chavez goes to San Jose City Council on Tuesday, April 18. Exciting to see the city focus on improving this civic jewel. Ideas include the @urbanconfluence Breeze of Innovation, a bust of Cesar Chavez, a master plan, a traffic study & conservancy partnership. An inclusive process to study all the options will be a big win for all, because this park belongs to everybody.

The Hispanic Foundation held our first STEM Community Luncheon in collaboration with Calculus Roundtable!
This event allowed us to bring together community partners and STEM funders to discuss how we can all collectively support DEI efforts in STEM Education and Industry. An inspiring conversation featured our board chair, Isaura Gaeta, Clara Roa from HFSV, Jim Hollis from Calculus Roundtable, and Christina O’Guinn from The Tech Interactive.
We also honored and celebrated Juliana Campos as the student of the year for her involvement in our Girls Empowerment programs such as Girls Mathletes and Isaura Gaeta as our Diversity in STEM Corporate leader of the year for all her work advocating for STEM education in the Silicon Valley for communities of color.
What a fantastic event to inspire our team to work towards a more diverse STEM workforce!

A fun hub sync with @siliconvalleysunrise where we checked out the "Solve for Earth" exhibit at @thetechinteractive . Afterward, we had a great cookie picnic in the park with girl scout cookies and fun custom earth cookies. It was great seeing my old workplace with some of my former co-workers.
Thank you so much to everyone who showed up for our Hub Social today! We had a great time exploring the museum and playing with the incredible tech used to create the Solve For Earth exhibit - from building retrofitting to sustainable soil science. If you couldn't join us this time, be sure to check out the exhibit on your own time and follow this page to meet up another time! 🌏
