Thank you so much to everyone who attended our annual Hispanic Foundation Ball — parents, partners, supporters, and sponsors! We are proud to have a strong Silicon Valley community supporting us, and our mission to increase the number of Latinos pursuing successful STEM careers🎉
During the Ball, several students and a mother shared their stories about how the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley (HFSV) has improved their lives. Juana Martínez, a mother from Mexico living in San José, shared how she has been able to support her children’s education through our Parent Education Academy and corresponding programs. And 6 of our Latinos in Technology Scholars (LITSIs) from past years spoke about the achievements they've made in their respective STEM careers. One of them even donated live on stage to support the next generation of LITSI Scholars🤗
We are overjoyed with the success of the Ball and cannot wait for next year's! Thank you to Signia by Hilton San Jose for being the best hosts. Save the date for next year's Ball: October 17th, 2026🙌
HFSV joined the 2025 Sciencepalooza! at San Jose State University, connecting with 600 East San Jose families and leading a Learn to Code activity with micro:bits 💻✨
Students explored block coding and STEM careers alongside their families. Big thanks to Synopsys Outreach Foundation for making hands-on STEM learning possible!

Thank you @springboard_collaborative for showing HFSV their summer Reading Literacy program at Horace Cureton Elementary School📖
Since 2020, our partnership has helped unite parents and teachers to improve students' reading proficiency🤝 3rd-grade reading levels are a crucial metric that has a direct impact on long-term life outcomes like employment and income, in addition to academic success. Over several weeks, parents are equipped with more tools to practice reading at home and on the go, while educators are given resources to engage children in reading and track their progress.
Springboard Collaborative has greatly influenced these families:
- 91% report their children's feeling more confident about reading
- 90% of students increased their reading proficiency
We are proud to work with Springboard and look forward to bringing this program to more schools in the Silicon Valley. To learn more about our K-12 programs, click the link: /education-excellence/
Santa Clara’s STEM Zone🤖 welcomed Silicon Valley families to learn about the innovation in our region so of course HFSV was there too!😁
Our Seed (K-12) team joined to share our STEM & College Readiness resources, and held a coding💻 activity for families to learn to code using Micro:bits. Students coded their names on LED lights💡, and learned how games like Rock, Paper, Scissors, and a digital Magic 8-ball🎱 are created through coding.
We were delighted to see some of our Parent Education Academy graduates, (including from Familias Unidas) some came from all the way in San Mateo County!
Inspiring bright minds to get more involved in STEM is what our Seed (K-12) 🌱 programming is all about. To see more STEM programs for kids, click the link in bio

Public speaking and presenting are essential soft skills in any career, but in STEM they can be true difference-makers.
In Session 7 of our Career Accelerator program, Lorenzo Cancel led our Latinos in Technology Scholars (LITSI) alumni through a hands-on workshop to build those skills.
Participants explored the fundamentals, practiced presenting to one another, and shared personal stories—both the wins and the challenges. This session deeply resonated with participants; the level of engagement, practice, and growth we witnessed in real time was powerful. We can’t wait to see how they carry these skills into the next stages of their careers.
We’re grateful to partner with Lorenzo to bring this experience to our LITSI graduates. He’ll also be offering 1:1 career coaching sessions for each participant, providing even more personalized professional development.😁 Learn more about Career Accelerator at the link in bio

To keep pace with our rapidly evolving world, students need to learn STEM🌱 disciplines and how to apply them from a young age. To that end, HFSV has been launching Technovation clubs for middle schoolers.
Technovation is an AI-focused program that teaches students to solve real-world problems using technology. These photos are from a recent graduation, where students presented their well-thought-out, practical applications for their final projects📱 As many of their parents don't speak English, these students presented in both English and Spanish, learning in real time how to use all their skills to share technology with others🤗
One by one, these girls demonstrated how their memory game, digital coloring book🎨, digital journal ✏️, and skincare product🧼 applications work. For their first time ever coding, these were pretty remarkable applications for 11-13-year-olds.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Pure Good Foundation, Everpure, and the Women@Everpure employee resource group, each student received a DNA🧬 science kit to continue exploring STEM beyond the classroom.

Last night, I stopped by Santa Clara University to visit the HFSV Career Accelerator participants.
I came by to share my books, Ignite Your Growth and Enciende tu Crecimiento, and sign a few copies; but more importantly, to connect with these young leaders, hear their stories, and pour into a community committed to growth.
At that moment, it hit me, today (April 30) marks one year since one of my book launch events.
What started as an idea, a story, and a leap of faith has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined. From the English version to the Spanish translation, to seeing it in the hands of readers across communities and countries, the reach and impact have been incredibly humbling.
Hearing how the book has resonated, supported, and inspired others along their journey is truly the greatest reward. 💜

We’re halfway through our first STEM Career Accelerator cohort, and the participants are already feeling the impact!
We checked in with the Latinos in Technology Scholars Initiative (LITSI) alumni to hear what's resonating most🔍 Arturo Milanes, AI Engineer Apprentice at Flatiron School, spoke highly of the second session on The Power of Networking🤝
Led by Jazmin Diaz, CEO of Flourish, the session explored the value of growing networks🌱 beyond familiar circles to create new opportunities and strategies to sustain meaningful relationships.
Arturo said, “It was a very good self-reflection session about how to build confidence and understanding where you yourself want to be in the future so that you can network with the right people."
As we continue Career Accelerator, LITSI alum will continue to build skills, confidence, and community🚀 To read more about the new program, click the link in bio.
The first cohort of Career Accelerator, our new program for Latinos in Technology Scholars (LITSI) alumni, is almost finished!🤗 Alumni have covered all aspects of career development, from networking and public speaking to salary negotiation.
In the Personal Branding session, LITSI alums sat with Guisselle Nuñez, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at San Jose State University, to learn how to cultivate and maintain a personal brand. Scholars said this was one of the most helpful sessions they have attended.✨ One scholar said, "It made me understand I must always be prepared to display my personal brand at any moment."
Thank you, Guiselle, for your guidance and for providing them with your book so they can continue improving how they present themselves.🤝 To learn more about Career Accelerator, click the link in bio.
