Today I turn 30! π
That's right! We made it! Say goodbye to the 20s! Big mamma Maxine is here. I cannot believe I'm here. What a journey it has been to this point. I'm also 900+ days sober y'all. Thank you for never giving up on me.
To commemorate a new era, I wanted to do something special. This dress & jewelry were originally hand me downs from my drag mother, and I wanted to upcycle the materials. The vision I had was inspired by the lesbian flag but to add motion to the fabric. The final product is a fringe colorful celebration of queerness.
Here's to life! I'm proud of you Maxine. π

While SB12 targets drag, and forces artists to comply with a vague law, it is important to know your rights! Family friendly drag shows, pride festivals, and drag story time is NOT banned under SB12.
I also highly recommend downloading @qommittee drag defense handbook. Now more than ever, we need to remain educated & steadfast in representation. Drag is self expression! Drag is art! Drag is not a crime!

Drag is NOT banned in Texas!
Today is election day for Texas primaries. Later this month, SB12 will (unfortunately) go into effect. Let's clear up some confusion:
Under this law, drag is NOT banned in Texas. SB12 specifically prohibits sexual performances in front of minors, in a public setting. Drag is still protected under the 1st Amendement. Drag story time is still legal. Pride celebrations are still legal.
What does that mean for drag? It means we have to be extra self aware of how we present ourselves. It's not fair, and SB12 puts a target on how drag entertainers present themselves.
Personally, the state of Texas needs to be focusing on major gun regulations after the horrifying shooting that occurred on 6th Street, Sunday. Please keep yourselves safe. Travel in groups whenever possible.

The only confusion here is why @austintexasgov capitulated to the FHWA without giving any notice of the removal? I'm disappointed in our city, especially when city council filed an exemption to @governorabbott regarding the 4th St. crosswalks last year.
The crosswalks at Webberville Rd. were a part of a statewide pilot program, that were removed separately. While it is a just a crosswalk, these represent a vast community that is tired of being erased. I can guranatee having these crosswalks painted help to aid in pedestrian awareness.
